I don’t have a problem with the top 10. There’s honestly too many rap albums and too many biases based on one’s age, region, preferences etc to do any sort of agreed upon top 10 rap albums, especially with 50 years of music to pull from at this point.

death certificate IMO is probably the first fully realized conceptual album in rap. it is a masterpiece. it is not only a perfect time capsule of 1991, it was prophetic as hell. as big of a joke as cube is today, ice cube in 1991 was the man. i dont respect any top 10 without that album, and i dont respect any top 10 rapper list without cube on it. period

and honestly im surprised they didnt find some way to shoehorn beyonce into there. these publications are shameless

Miseducation had been treated like a rap albun since 1998. If you don't like the album, fine. But all this "it ain't a rap album" is 26 years too late. It got a XXL rating. It was on The Source's best albums of 1998 list, a list that is historically exclusively Hip Hop. The biggest songs from the album has rap verses with sung hooks and bridges. People bringing up R. Kelly albums. Nobody revered those albums for the rapping and that's the difference.

Name one R&B album that is possibly more revered for the rapping than the singing. You won't find one and that is part of what made the album special.
