All it would take is one of those blackout shooting nights from the 2012 team, the centers are the huge advantage for the 92 team, but when this current teams gets hot there's absolutely nothing you can do.

but but but nba players would be guarding them and not nigerians or cacs euros. smarten up. dont think melo would get a shot off with scottie guarding him

Dream Team never faced an NBA All-Star center like Gasol.

I love the 90's too, but c'mon Bill.

No, their centers were just used to playing against little guys like Kareem and Olajuwan
If Kevin Love and Melo can't guard the mighty Gasols, who can?

Nah, I'm pretty sure they weren't playing against a prime Kareem back then.

I'll just throw out some more numbers for y'all to ignore:

The 12 team was an impressive 44% from three, while the Dream Team was 40%...a whopping 4% difference. The main reason for the 3 pt disparity was the fact that 12 team shot the three on 46.6% of their field goals while the Dream Team shot it on 21.2% of their field goals....cuz, yanno, they actually had an inside presence.

Niccas need to stop acting like they'd shoot the Dream Team out of the gym, which is what they'd need to do in order to overcome obvious and significant deficiencies down low and on the boards.

"Karl Malone wasn't a post up big, all he could do is face up and shoot 20 footers"

:obama:

" '12 would have an advantage because the short 3 pt line is basically just a long jumpshot"

:snoop:

This circular argument is gonna end up exposing the truth eventually.. Keep typing..

Malone's range was 16 ft, nice try though.

stop it... inside presence had nothing to do with it. it was more the fact the competition was garbage so they could easily force turnovers, and get lots of fast break dunks and layups. you think they could do that against 2012 roster youre smokin.

The Dream Team NEVER played against Kareem or Olajuwan (nor any other NBA-AllStar calibre center).
^^^^Think about that statement slowly. It might take a while for you to understand it.

My point is that the Dream Team's heralded margin of victory stats are misleading. And therefore, their aura of invincibility is something of an illusion.

Players today are better than players 20 years ago. Common sense.

Did I ever say they'd do that against 12?

Nah, I'm pretty sure I said they have obvious and significant advantages down low and on the boards when it comes to playing the 12 squad which wouldn't have been offset by 12's shooting.

You're acting like David Robinson and Pat Ewing were featured in their offense, it was mostly Chuck and Karl doing work off pick and rolls while Pat and DR were there for garbage points. Do you really think a team can set up and run a cohesive offense through centers like that in such a short time span?

The top 5 scorers on the Dream team in order were -

Chuck
Mike
Karl
Mullin
Drexler

Pat and Robinson averaged under 10ppg each, could they score, of course, but they weren't scoring much against crappy competition either. The dream team was as much of a perimeter attacking team as the 12 team, they have the inside advantage against the current team, but nikkas are acting like the centers were getting the ball down low and going to work every single time down the court.

no shyt...which is where the 2012 would ge demolished. And alos, getting killed on the offensive glass = no more transition buckets and 3's.

My thing is, throw all that level of competition and point differential shyt out the window. I think we'd all agree that 12 would've easily won gold in 92 and the Dream Team would've easily won gold in 2012.

Performances against clearly outmatched teams (in blowouts) aren't really useful at all. Team A beating Team X by 30 pts while Team beating Team X by 40 pts doesn't tell a got damn thing about how Teams A and B would fare against each other.

i just disagree. i dont think ewing and drob could dominate so much inside that it would offset the 2012 teams advantages. they would not KILL them on the glass even if they did outrebound them. they are great at gang rebounding and sneaking in for offensive boards...

Ewing came into league in 85 baby boy, Kareem was very much playing a few years after that. Maybe not a prime Kareem, but still Kareem. You really think Gasol is giving Ewing and Robinson trouble? Gasol isn't better than a Robinson from 20 years ago, ir a Ewing from 30 years ago in college. Common sense
