Americans get sensitive when you point out the huge flaws in various aspects of this culture but the truth is, there is a huge cultural problem in this country with how guns & violence are seen.

Nobody bats an eye at the hero gunning down dozens and dozens of people in a movie, but you better not show one tiddy in that process cause think about the children smh.
Because guns and gun violence in movies are fake. Titties are real.

I'll say again.. He has a point.

Do we not think guns are cool as fukk? Why is that? It sure ain't from watching footage of actual war and shootings right? It's from movies. We covet what we see.. From white boys in the 50s watching westerns to us in the 90s watching New Jack City... We wanted those guns dammit. 357 magnum like Eastwood. Mac 10 like Nino Had.. Rockabye Baby!!!

We out here quoting movies, acting them shyts out.. Every time there's a shooting it's "If I was there with my gun I'd have......." "If they shot my daughter I wouldn't even tell, I'd have to find them fools myself." Same corny talk from the movies that we know dudes ain't doing. But they idolize that. Dude just mowing through 10-20-50 guys with no problems. When's the last time a hero killed 5 people, acting alone to save someone? Never right... But you'd think it'd happened 28 times a year according to movies..

You don't think it affects children? Or grown adults? How many gun nuts you know? Where you think they got the idea from?
Why aren’t kids in other nations shooting up their schools? They watch all of our movies.

Anyone who is regressing back to the 90s talking points is not a Serious person on gun violence. That’s you and Bill Maher.

it does play a part, just because it doesn't effect you doesn't mean it doesn't someone else

just like music etc
You live in Canada and get our same media and don’t have a gun violence problem. Idk how you can say this and not walk outside to see it’s not true.

My wife is from overseas and she does not understand the appeal of action movies and trying to explain/justify is difficult and while watching it with her I realize how stupid it comes off to the unfamiliar. So yeah they may make these movies available to the world do they consume it at the same rate? Is their foreign policy married to the idea that "might equals right" like the U.S.? Do they themselves make these type of movies a lot? I do think using violence as a solution to problems is more rampant here in the U.S. I thinknour leaders using violence is why we are more violent but violent entertainment is probably a factor as well. I don't think it is completely benign.
I dont wanna make assumptions but Sounds like your wife one of those that think they more cultured than americans. Cant understand the point of an action movie? Boujie. Hope she bad.

A. action movies are not uniquely american whatsoever. Asian martial arts films invented the genre…and B american movies arent even more violent.

Asian cienma as a whole has way more violence, gore, etc than america. Not even close.

Infact. Extreme cinema showing intense violence comes from all the overseas countries over america.

Ya know those classic european films cannibal holocaust and a serbian film.

European stuff is the same shyt just avant- garde, wannabe artsy bs. Spaghetti westerns vs american.

Infact you will rarely see a ultra violent film in the mainstream minus tarantino and the like at all. Most the action is neutered. So did she live on an island or what cause the world watches these films, not just americans

Being more cultured than Americans isn't some difficult feat. lol
She grew up somewhat sheltered and not presented with violence real or on television. Therefore, the excessive violence of action movies comes off strange to someone who doesn’tsee it alot and also kinda morbid that people actually enjoy it. She isn't Japanese or European so their cinema she would be less familiar with than American stuff.

Well first you’d have to actually comprehend the point.

The point is not “movies make people kill”. The point is “movies are being reshot and changed to insert EVERYTHING woke into it, but fail to see how gratuitous hun violence is one of those things too”

So yea. People will still kill each other more here because we have more access to guns. Nobody ever argued that. But don’t cry about gun control as a Hollywood crony, then go star in kill 150 nikkas with a gun while doing gymnastics.

Everyone has clearly missed the point so let’s just go with the question Bill asked….

How can you be the leaders of social activism (Hollywood) and completely ignore the impact that over the top violence has on children?

I don't support Hollywood's fake wokeness either, but I am also not going to use that to distract from the fact that our gun laws are the reason we are here. He isn't right and he isn't serious, and you aren't serious either for indulging this point.

I've seen a few people in here say something like "violence in movies doesn't have the same impact as rap" in them TLR threads, but in here it's a whole different stance. :mjlol: All of a sudden violence on tv/film is the issue. People just be taking certain sides of an argument just to argue.

Oh but I am. Because I’m not some fool who thinks kids watching Jon wick 150 times and romanticizing what will actually happen, doesn’t lead to them thinking guns are cool and leading their need to have 15, ar 15s to show off on Facebook

The gun problem is an American problem. No one needs to see a movie or play a violent video game since all this same media is available around the world. Americans love their guns and want to use them whether they see a movie or not.

Oh but I am.
No, you aren't.

You made a thread deciding we need to blame Hollywood for our gun culture. to agree that Hollywood needs to do better when the real issue is our elected leaders need to do better and stop catering to the gun industry.

Even in this clip--can't believe I watched this racist, unfunny scumbag doing his faux intellectual Joe Rogan impersonation--he doesn't address the relationship between the gun industry and Hollywood.

He is also going back to the goofy bully narrative and claiming that it leads to gun violence when there is no evidence.

Like I said, neither Maher nor you are serious people about gun violence.
