Asians live longer and healthier, we have an epidemic in this country with obesity. So it makes sense that a diet that is weighted heavier on vegetables than meat is healthier. I agree with Serious, it's about moderation. Animal based foods are okay, but don't gorge on them.

Asians eat meat regularly. Chicken, fish and beef ribs. Their portions arent like Americans. Breakfast, lunch, dinner with little in between.

I was referring to proportions, friend, not to general amounts of food. Americans eat too much in general, which you said, but what I am saying is that the ratio of fruits and vegetables to meat is unhealthier in the American diet than in the Chinese diet. Most meals should contain more fruits/vegetables than meat, but that's not how many Americans eat.

I believe the vitamins/proteins concerns can be overcome if you're eating the right vegetables

but yeah in traditional vegetarian societies like in India they definitely use dairy and other animal byproducts, it's not just all plants & fruits

Plus a lot of the food we eat is highly processed and loaded down with sugars, salt, and filler. Plus all the junk food we eat, potato chips, candy bars, etc. It ain't no joke.

I've been following a Vegan diet for well over 2 years now, the transition/discipline has been relatively easy for me since I've been exposed to Mediterranean/Middle Eastern cuisine my entire life.

oh, and I'm 6'2 195, workout 6 times a week and my sex drive is :ahh:

I'm the opposite of everyone here. Been lifting since the Corps. Got put on a mass building diet from one of the body builder forums.

I eat no vegetables or fruit. No more than 10 g of carbs a day. Absolutely no sugar. No "off" days. Don't drink or smoke anymore (just hit the Vape here and there).

All meat and fatty foods. Salmon, steaks, pollo, and I eat enough pork to send a Muslim or Jew straight to hell if they ever got a whiff of my breath. I've been trying to stay as strict as possible to an Eskimo/ketogenic lifestyle as possible. Been close to 5 months now.

Muscle is just piling on. I don't use any creatine, supplements or any of that shyt anymore. Just fish oil pills, olive oil and vitamins.

I never felt better. I sleep 5 hours a day and don't feel tired. All my maxes have increased. Cognition and memory have improved. All my levels have actually gone down since I got rid of the carbs.

Now there is evidence coming out that most carbs and glucose, even in natural fruits, are not healthy.

How do you get your protein?

I swear on my child my levels have gone down. Just went in for a routine checkup last week. Once I get home I'll show you the science behind it.

They are wrong in that calcium, iron, and zinc are only available through meat. You get those from green leafy vegetables, and nuts or seeds. The reason why meat is known to eat for iron specifically, is because it has saturated fat which enhances it's absorption, while plants have no saturated fat, but that is why nuts or seeds are important to have in your diet as they contain enough saturated fat as well as being high in anti-oxidants so the saturated fat doesn't create too much cholesterol which when oxidizes causes problems which happens when you eat meat, that has very little or no anti-oxidants. Even something simple like sauteing your greens in some ghee(clarified butter) or coconut oil will enhance iron absorption. So meat is not needed to get iron in the diet.

A lot of people who claim being a vegetarian didn't work for them usually ate processed food which are void in key nutrients, when they should have been eating whole, natural, "peasant" foods, but you need to know how to cook to enjoy these foods. If you want to be a vegetarian, you have to learn how to eat, which means learning food, and the body, being that the knowledge isn't really out here. Once you do, and workout properly, NO ONE can fukk with you on this health shyt, and getting fukked up if you puff herb, and drink as this diet sensitizes your body, while also strengthen it. Don't make me go into sex, these chicks will love your ass but that takes some more knowledge.

absolutely, you can definitely be on a very unhealthy vegeterian diet

you need to learn to source and cook food which is a problem for people with any diet preferences in the modern industrial life

my main concern with the issue is with children. if they don't get proper nutrition, it can effect their development
