You have Suicidal Thoughts even though its a little too comical/corny for a suicide song...The rest are what I gave him credit for already, creative songs about his criminal lifestyle and coke related shyt....reminiscing about the good ol days of selling coke and somebody dies suddenly in the last verse so its supposed to make it substance? These songs give him credit as a storyteller, not a man of substance.
Nothing deep,nothing heavy here.
Big was very rounded as far as flow, delivery, storytelling but for the most part, his content was lacking. Dude didn't really talking about anything.
yall skim through music too much![]()
Thinking about this more, Andre 3000 fits into this discussion.
Even has some elements that Biggie didn't, more "artsiness" and safe songs like his material on The Love Below. You can't be really complete without that aspect.
3 Stacks' lyrics weren't as violent as Biggies, but could still get street.
He's not the writer Jay is, but my point is Biggie could make a D'evils (wouldn't be as lyrical) and make it dope. If Jay tried to make a Gimme The Loot it would come off wild corny and not believable.
1/2-2/3 of RTD was wacki think Biggie never had a wack verse.
