Biggie could never have become as big as Jay is.

BIG made songs with Michael Jackson.

He had 7 top 10 hits in the country in a two year span. Jigga didn't crack the top 10 with a solo single until 2001.

Yep, doing a song with MJ is a major accomplishment and privilege for any musician, gotta give Biggie major props for hopping on a track with MJ.

It would have nice if MJ did a song with Pac as well. Considering all the drama going though their lifes at the time, such a collab would have been dope.

lol @ TI

dude can't even pronounce the english language correctly. Andre 3000 is more marketablel than Kanye and Wayne put together.

Yet both are bigger stars then he's ever been? Outkast was more marketable then Wayne & Kanye put together... but not Andre3k by himself & time has proved that...

Really? I believe Biggie would've surpassed Jay n I'm not a fan of either. But the way Biggie"s flow n word play was back then was on some other sh!t n that was years ago. He would have definately progressed from then to now. I think Jay is a little stagnant. Seems like he approaches every project the same n doesn't challenge himself enough. He puts out good joints but I think Biggie would've been more creative at this point.

biggie was the biggiest rapper in the game as far as popularity and sales

jay was a nobody this is disrespectful to notorious big.
Biggies biggest album sold 5 million, Jay-z's biggest sold 5 million 1 year later.
So they were both big, both legends and could both reach far as fukk. Big didn't even get the time to smarten up, no one knows what he would be doing @ 40.

Time has proved that? 3 stacks peak period in hiphop was between 94 and 2003. The love below was hailed, loved and huge as fukk. Every damn single was a hit. We can't compare their fame as solo artists cause Andre has never been a solo artist and he's never gone after young fans (who are the people that make noise). Like how could one know that Sade would do 500k first week in 2010 without any successful singles?

Andre is definitely on their level, but he's not and hasn't been competing in the same league. He's not chasing twitter followers or rapradar comments, that's how nikkas notice buzz these days.

Lol @ jay approaching every project the same way, that's laughable.
There is not a single project that even sounds close to the same besides maybe Vol.2/3. He's probably THE mainstream rapper after Kanye who has the most different projects out. But his difference is not putting emphasis on the content it's on the flow, wordplay, delivery, production and on. The content runs in parallel with his life (excluding AG). So if his life doesn't change, neither does his lyrics. That's one of the biggest reasons to why a lot of cats fukk with Jay, it's real shyt, real lyrics from his own life and own real life observations unlike most of his competition. Add Drake and Kanye to that list as well.

When Biggie was alive, Camel was just the sidekick.

When Eazy-E was alive Nas was just a sidekick, you dudes got to stop with that dumb ass theory. You dudes been fooling yourself for the longest. He went gold in 3 months indie with his first album fresh outta the streets when Big was alive, just went plat with his 2nd on a major and 5 or 6x platinum with his 3rd.

So either Bigs death would've made Vol.1 move units or it's unrelated to Vol.2's sales.

my point is that reasonable doubt came out biggie was selling records off of
ready to die and reasonble doubt failed to go platinum

biggie was the bigger artist and the bigger draw in

so what u saying does not make any sense

Frankly I don't give a fukk, I don't even know why I'm having this discussion.
Both are in my top 3, both were/are madly successful, I thought it would be a cool thread but it started of wrong by hating on Biggie.

This thread is just a whole bunch of what ifs, Jay could have been Fabolous level if Big was alive, Big could have burnt out like the rest of the bad boy roster and Jay could have the same career he has now.

SMH@ saying when Eazy-E was alive, Nas was just a sidekick, their careers don't even correlate with each other.
