Another one that comes to mind is Ross, Fifty destroyed him...almost lol. Took his baby mother shopping and even exposed him as a CO.

Chrisette Michele was ahead of her time, nowadays it's acceptable to perform for Trump.
That's the funny part, Snoop even did it. People gave them a pass.

This isn’t true at all and is a talking point that 50 haters use lol

January 2003 they were arrested.

Blood in my eye dropped in November 2003 and it flopped.

R.U.L.E dropped on Nov. 3 2004 went gold off the strength of New York in January 2005 and still hasn’t gone platinum cause it was ass.

They were acquitted in December that year. Feds had nothing to do with his whack music.

That album was all over the place….

I would have put out R.U.L.E in 2003 and Blood In My Eye and 05 had Jada, Nas, Game, and Fat Joe on a posse cut getting at 50.

Murder Inc indictment caused Def Jam to part ways from them not too long after. They started playing with Lloyd and Ashanti’s numbers

As I said he was the closest one to MJ and he was on his way prior to the incident. If Mike himself gave him the blessing, why would I care what you say lmao.

Performance wise he was the closest thing to Mike. Bruno Mars tried to bite the aesthetic and the weekend tries to do his version of it vocally but Chris had it and was real close. Go listen to the song Fine China, dude had the dancing and performing down pact and he wildly talented.

As for his voice I would say he ruined it more recent years from all the smoking and shyt. It years ago he had a way better voice.

Indeed he did bounce back but imo I think him going the MJ/POP route would have been much more lucrative than the urban thug image route that he did. He had a lot of doors shut on him but through his talent many of them opened back up. I'm sure there are some doors still shut on him but he's been able to keep pushing through and you have to give him credit for that.

Most def….

CB kept his ears to the streets and realized that he had to get with the times and made Hip Hop infused R&B that had a youthful vibe.

Tyga looked out for him too

He could have went the Usher route but folks weren’t digging all that old head R&B.

Them krakkkas wasn’t bumping Chris like that anyway.

We knew what the situation was and forgave him.

Rihanna supposedly gave that man the flap and was beating on Chris.

People forget, you didn't stay hot for 15 years until record labels were able to monopolize everything.

It was just Ja's time to be over.

Yep. If you’re lucky not only as a rapper but an entertainer you have a successful 3-5 year run.

Can I Get A? (1998) to Holla, Holla (1999) to that dumb ass video with fine ass Ashanti (2002) was only four years.

Sounds bout right

Nellys run was 2000-2005 but he had some strong singles after

Tip run was 2003-2008

Jeezy run was technically 04 - 08 maybe to 2011 cause his mixtapes were still getting hella play and lose my mind and tm103 was good too

Most rappers truly dont stay longer than that

Pretty much….

Kanye got a pass for doing it and he was soft shoeing for Trump the most.

Chrisette just looked at it as business as usual and got fried.

Snoop and Ross did that And folks moved on simply because one

1. Trump helped usher in the IDGAF era in this country. Nelly went and did the show and stood on his square. Once Trump started getting on TV as well as Twitter dissing his OPPs, that ended the Obama PC era.

2. Trump is like most rappers…. Look at 50 and Kanye

If I was Chrisette, I’d say Fukk all yall nikkas

Yeah but the last temptation underperformed before GRODT came out though. He was gonna be out of here shortly even if 50 never came out or existed.

Last temptation dropped in November 02 and went platinum by the end of December 03. I don’t think that’s underperforming.

Feds raided murder inc in January 03.

I agree though.

Was thinking about this the other day, a rappers career and image really is fragile. One big mistake and it can be all over. With that said let's take a look at some rappers and rnb acts who have taken L's they never recovered from or almost did

B.O.B

B.O.B had hits, legit rhyme skills, production skills and a solid fan base until this...

He just wouldn't shut up about flat earth and I'm all for people thinking out of the box but the fans weren't a fan of these ideas at all.

His career became flat as well.

[

The thing about B.O.B is he even had 4 lit which was bubbling and getting play on urban radio...I thought he was gonna recover for a minute.
