Having No limit is dangerous.
I thought so at first too and called them like “ummm, I don’t know what to do with this” :mjlol:

After they calmed me down they informed me there is technically a limit I was good. It operates differently and without it I don’t think I would have gotten approved for my home loan recently since Amex reports a paid off balance every month (and in my instance it was $7-10k per month so very large balances and volume).

Your "limit" is your average spend over 3-6 months. Spend 2.5x or so above and you would get denied. They have multiple data points regarding your account. If you go H.A.M. in the winter season (25k a month) vs. smoothed out in the spring and summer (2k a month) they know for fraud purposes and such.

A lot of people confuse "no pre set limit" with "no limit". No pre set limit means it doesn't give you a hard limit like a traditional credit card does. However your limit is based on how you spend and AMEX giving you a range based on your spending habits. So if you go outside of that they will deny the charge.

Looks like they’ve capped me out at $49,999, and won’t give me $50k+ :beli:

it’s been over 8 months and I’ve run some huge volumes, it’s not like I would put that down on a card anyways on a single charge but it would be nice to have black card like thresholds :francis:

If you keep spending like that I'm sure you will get an invite in the mail soon

I’m not ready yet because the wife isn’t working until next fall. They run a full financial profile on you and I’m about 50% there, unless they lower the entry level like they did with the platinum it will be out of reach for me for at least another 3 or 4 years. Minimum spend is $250k per year and at my current pace I’m right at $100’ish, if I converted every single dollar we spend though once she does start working we should get reeeeally close to the minimum spend requirements for a black card.
