The website is rather misleading as it doesn’t note that it’s double patties.

consumers gotta do better. you can get what OP got and split it between 2 people to come up with the prices we are used to per meal per person.... and still get about 800 calories per person in so it's not like you are cheating yourself.

We don't have one where I live. Just so happened we were in Champaign last night and that joint hit the spot. Definitely pricey. The best thing we got where I live is Culver's, but their burgers ain't as juicy as FG.

Imagine taking the family of about 5 or 6 out for burgers and that shyt easily runs into the $120 range:mjlol:
The 1st thing my PawPaw told me after I lost my virginity..."looka here boy...don't fukk yaself out of a house and home getting these women pregnant. Have 2 at the most. Don't be a slave to your family".

My cousin got 5 kids...smh :whew:

How much would it cost to make that burger and fries on your own?

Most people don't have everything needed for 1 comparable to 5 Guys Bacon Burger and fries at home.

Burger
Ground Beef - 11 bucks for 2 lbs - call it 5.50 for 1 lb- https://www.heb.com/product-detail/...-chuck-80-lean-value-pack-avg-2-15-lbs/635319 (5.50)

Buns - pack of 8 - (can't buy a single hamburger bun, but you can go off brand and spend 50 cents on one of them Mexican rolls in the Bakery section) 2.33 - - https://www.heb.com/product-detail/h-e-b-enriched-hamburger-buns-8-ct/395785 (7.83)

Head of Lettuce - ( can't buy it by the leaf) - 1.64 - https://www.heb.com/product-detail/fresh-iceberg-lettuce-each/319375 (9.47)

Tomato - (can't buy it by the slice) 1.11 - https://www.heb.com/product-detail/fresh-greenhouse-tomato-avg-0-6-lb/318575 (10.58)

Cheap Bacon - (can't buy it by the slice, unless you go to the deli counter) - 3.84 - https://www.heb.com/product-detail/hill-country-fare-hickory-smoked-sliced-bacon-12-oz/9214009

5.50
2.33
1.64
1.11
3.84

= 13.31

I'll assume folks got mustard, ketchup, bbq sauce, whatever at home already. Didn't include any kraft singles, cause it's just a bacon burger, not a bacon cheese burger.

Already at 13 bucks

Fries
Peanut Oil - 5.70 - https://www.heb.com/product-detail/hill-country-fare-peanut-oil-48-oz/6996003
Fries - 4.14 - https://www.heb.com/product-detail/h-e-b-frozen-french-fries-slim-cut-classic-28-oz/8677509

= 9.84

You'll spend at least 23.15 at the grocery store, to make that first burger and fries.

Obviously if the typical burger is 1/2 lbs, you can make 2 burgers - so that brings the cost per burger down a bit.

None of these ingredients are outrageously priced.

Maybe you can save a few dollars by using cheaper ground beef, cheaper oil, or cutting the french fries yourself, making the hamburger buns yourself (assuming you got enough flour and yeast around)-

But you're not saving that much money

And

You're losing your time spent on shopping, preparing, cooking, and cleaning up.

Making burgers at home aren't usually worth it financially for 1-2 people. Now if you got a family, sure.

Pizza though? That's worth making at home. The profit margin on pizza is high.

150 grams of flour + instant yeast + can of tomatoes + garlic + 6-8 oz of cheese? + whatever topping. The most expensive thing is usually the cheese, provided you don't go super crazy with the toppings...
