One of my summer jobs in high school was working as a janitor assistant and the foreman used to show us his check on payday. He started doing that cause he heard us clowning about being a janitor for a living. Dude said don’t you dare look down on us Janitors I bet most of us make just as much or more than your parents. Pulled out his check and back then he was bringing home $1200 a week.

Illegal immigrants were coming in during that time also. I listened to conservative radio back then(never agreed with it but it) and they were definitely complaining about illegals taking jobs and closing the border just like today.
You have to remember that we went into an economic spiral when the banks failed and I would imagine a lot of freelance and really small companies took a hit in pay (if they didn't put right shut down) because of it
Bruh we can’t hire anyone straight on to clean our warehouses. We been trying because the temp services charge a premium. We have to get with the temp services and they bring on the Venezuelan and Mexicans. Them Venezuelan women got phat asses too, just saying.
We don’t have anyone hired into our warehouses that are illegal. Them Mexicans you see doing road work and whatnot aren’t illegal. They just will work for less pay and stay out on the road to do it. You aren’t getting an American to ship off for weeks at a time overnight on a highway making no money.

Labor shortage? I remember clear as day how hard it was between 2007 and 2015 to get a job. Any job. The only stuff available was door to door and Temp agencies like Labor Ready, where you pick up trash all day in the summer heat for minimum wage. There were a lot of Black people doing Labor Ready when I did it. Jobs were hard to come by. Have things really changed that much?
