The problem with this is, it also ignores how policing can be dubious, where we have not only corrupt
police officers but a climate which legitimizes their violence and/or questionable application of the law.
Many, many lives have been completely destroyed and normal people have become institutionalized because
of how we architect our drug & gun laws.

Again, that's the problem, by asking Why doesn't everybody become a criminal ? you excuse and legitimize
the governments INACTION when people NEED IT and their ACTION when it's time to harass, jail & ostracize.

A perfect example of this is "Stop & Frisk", that shyt as a policing method fukking failed miserably but as a method
to intimidate, harass, bully and eventually jail young Black & Brown men, it worked wonderfully.

To me it’s a problem that we (the black community) has to take care of ourselves. Once the govt comes in they are coming in with a heavy hand and they simply do not give a fukk

I grew up in the crack era and when the task force swept thru the hoods in Pittsburgh in the 80’s they scooped up everyone who remotely looked like a black person. They followed me to my house after I got done visiting my cousin in the hood. And I’m the squarest black suburban kid you could ever meet.

Once we let shyt get out of hand and the crackers come in they are going to go scorched earth.

I think the fix is not going to be a easy or a fast one. It goes back to implementing pride in the black family. Meaning a man and woman. And passing down those ideals generation to generation. When we have a loose community full of single people we raise kids who are more apt to be with the shyts against people who look like them.

I wish I knew how to start the process but the failure of the black family unit is the start of the end for us. I remember back in the day a lot of older black people WANTED the crime Bill initially. They needed help. Relief. But when the govt comes in it’s a gift and a curse. In the hood areas in my hometown they used to be thriving working class black people. Crack decimated it. Then the task force came in and “cleaned it up”. Locked up brehs by the hundreds. Now those same areas are ghost towns. Ripe for gentrification. It’s a terrible cycle. But it starts with us. It will be a slow process but we can do it

I wholly agree with this breh.. People think that calling for black unity means you're letting the government off the hook.. But if people know their history like they say they do, then they'll get the idea that the government is good at kicking the can down the road..

Willie Wilson was told by the current mayor that she'll give him a position in city council if he gave her his support.. This brother took this woman all over the black community garnering up support.. You already know what she did when she won the office.. Forgot all about her promises..

I live in the worse hood in Detroit and have been there off and on since I was a child, and it's been top 3 violent zips for like 40 years. Your family is scary as hell and goofy. The people where I live aren't afraid to do basic shyt. I've seen 2 murders and we ( my family) have seen 15 happen in the area, just the other day some house I just rehabbed got shot up because of the house next door to it. Anyway, this is a social economic and resource issue that easy to fix on a macro level if the government wanted to fix it - on the flip side

Most people who live in the hood know that you're pretty safe unless you're into fukkery. People typically end up dead when they play stupid games or they are with a gang.

NTM - there are at least 50 other areas in the USA more violent than the Chi... at least in Chicago 80% of the city is safe so there are outlets.

This some wrong ass information. You can MOST DEFINITELY end up shot by just being in the wrong area at the wrong time. So many people get hit with stray bullets at g stations, on corners, in front of houses. My friend’s cousin is a whole anime nerd and she just got hit 5 times, all because she was standing in front of wrong house.

Most sensible young people in Chicago are scared to even go to house parties where it’s not a family thing. Parties with mixed groups stay getting shot up.

Regular ass people getting carjacked sitting in traffic, sometimes getting shot in the process. You the real goofy if you think it’s all good and safe out here.
