Belichick puts more of an emphasis on Pts though. His defenses tighten up in the Red Zone. It's like a Rope a Dope

Like the Rams SB, they gave up 500 Yards but they won
they didnt give up 500 yards, they gave up 420 :smoker: and forced 3 turnovers
to the #1 offense that was historical the previous season

that pats D was good, but it was overmatched like crazy. beli had to scheme like a madman to keep the offense in check.

lets put this in perspective. the 2007 pats averaged 6.2 yards per play on offense
the 2000 rams averaged 7 yards per play
the 2001 rams averged 6.6 yards per play

to this day best in-game defensive scheming Ive seen

Listen.....I've been watching Beli for over 30 years. Saw him destroy Bill Walsh offenses as DC of the Giants (how the fukk did Marc Collins hold Jerry Rice????) ....to winning with subpar talent in defense today.
Rex has a lonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng way to go before touching Beli...and I love Rex defenses
I respect your football knowledge as much as anyone, but modern Belichick is just as reliant on his players as any other coach is..half the time in New England, his defenses have been mediocre. This is the same guy who called back to back safety blitzes leaving Plax on an island with Ellis Hobbs on back to back plays...the guy who had no answer for Drew Brees...BB is great, but if u were to look at year to year performances, with the offense excluded, many guys compare favorably to BB..Rex Ryan, Buddy Ryan, Lovie Smith, Wade Phillips. dikk Lebeau, Monte Kiffin, Jim Johnson(RIP)etc..Plenty guys defenses outperform BB on a year to year basis..the difference is they dont have an all time great QB who keeps them in contention even in years when the defense is down...

He no longer being solely a DC may have more to do with that

we are talking about BB over his whole career, no ?

BB was close to a HoF DC before he even joined the pats

Just went on Football reference. 1998 Jets defense

2nd in Pts Allowed
5th in Yards Allowed

:mjcry:

Best Jets team I've ever seen in my life. I was pumped because they played the late championship game and the Dirty Birds upset the Vikings... if they got past the Broncos there was no doubt the Jets would have won that Super Bowl. :mjjets:

Before Spygate, :beli:

Since (with no tapes and fukkery), I gotta go Rex.

:beli: 's defenses haven't been elite since.
This. Before Spygate it would've been :beli: a lot of people don't understand the quite guy they see now was the same person and probably the only person who could get into a heated argument with LT and live to tell about it. Then in Cleveland had the long hair did what he wanted blasting loud music in his car straight don't give a fukk mode.

But Rex has defense in his blood and that chip on his shoulder that he's got to be better than his father and his brother.Plus players want to win with :beli: but they will run through a brick wall for Rex.
