I miss those old MTV shows like Celeb Deathmatch, Jackass, Daria, older Real World/Road Rules/Challenge seasons, Unplugged, Fear & True Life.

VH1 had Behind The Music, Pop up Video, Flavor of Love & I Love NY. BET was great for Comic View, Rap City, Uncut and all those other music shows.

I miss my childhood, reality TV was actually entertaining and diverse.

BET had a sleeper show in 'American Soul'. I kept on putting off watching it, but got hooked when I started.

I liked the New Edition and Bobby miniseries' too.

I'll never forgive them or VH1 for cancelling 'The Breaks' though:francis:.

That show was really dope.

Many channels are either syndicated reruns and reality shows or syndicated reruns and repeated movies.

That's why many people want to cut the cord, but people are also starting to realize that cutting the cord is becoming just as expensive as a cable bill since every network wants their own service.

TV in general has been largely trash for a minute breh :mjharshreality:

reality tv happened..even though MTV kinda started the wave...more and more networks realized reality tv is far more cheaper to create than to actually be creative and come up with ideas.
You can thank these 2 shows for kickstarting reality TV as we know it now

These my go to channels for when I go to sleep at night.

I just skim to whatever of the 3 is showing Martin, Jaime Foxx, or the Fresh Prince(In that order) and I turn to that channel at bedtime:manny:

I appreciate it for what it is. The familiarity is mad comforting, like tucking a grown man in:pachaha:

The Challenge stuff is still good, even though I have lost touch with it in recent years. As far as BET, outside of the usual syndicated sitcoms and the music related mini-series/docs they've made (which have been very good), I couldn't even tell you what's on that channel. Though it seems like they've made a concentrated effort to get better, BET is so damaged that it needs a complete cleansing. It's similar to the WWE honestly.

I still believe there's a place for music videos on tv.

Every thi g doesnt have to live on YouTube
Nah. It had it's run. Mtv ditched it even before YouTube popped off.

What took over were the American Idol and the Voice. Singing and talent competitions. That's where the music tv market went.

Do the EXACT same thing every night. Whichever one has the better episode playing, I'll keep it on there. I bet a lot of people do this, and it works for them, that's why they've been doing this. They need to put Wayans Bros. back in rotation too tho.

The appeal of the challenges for me came from watching the individual RR/RW shows and seeing them meet up. Once they deaded RR it became all about RW then they started added regular joes and celebs and lost that feeling. Also MTV/MTV2 play about 15 hours of Ridiculousness a day. I need to meet the devil Rob Dyrdek sold his soul to.
