Wayne was still on top though.
He had the streets and mainstream.
So far gone was barely any rapping anyways lol wtf
Drake didn't takeover until 2013 tbh.
Once he dropped started from the bottom and Versace it was a wrap
Wayne was still on top, Drake held shyt down when Wayne got locked up though...
Most of So Far Gone is rapping, some straight rap songs and some rap songs with sung hooks. Lust For Life, Successful, November 18th, Ignant Shyt, Say What's Real, Uptown, The Calm, I'm Goin' In, Unstoppable Remix, Fear are all rap songs. He had some traditional R&B joints like Brand New, A Night Off, Sooner Than Later, Bria's Interlude towards the end of the tape.
Lil Wayne was still the man in '09. But I give it to Drake because that year for me was about the new generation coming up and he led that generation. He dropped some of the biggest hits of the year, one of the greatest mixtapes, that shyt birthed a sound and made dudes like Wale and J. Cole rethink their blueprint. He bodied every feature he was on, Drake was out there bodying rap joints, R&B joints, indie pop joints. He was the sensation of the year.
Drake took over when he dropped Take Care and went on his crazy features run in 2012.
Nas is unquestionably a better rapper than Raekwon. No matter how you slice it.
At the end of the day though...Nas only got one album better than the original OBFCL. And that album is Illmatic.
Only Built 4 Cuban Linx had RZA's executive production and vision on beats and skits, GFK and other Wu members on almost every track, dudes sharing verses and helping each other write in the sessions (Heaven and Hell for example). It's not fair to compare Nas holding shyt down dolo. Raekwon's albums outside of the Cuban Linx series have been sub par. Nas is a way better artist and rapper than Raekwon.
Cuban Linx isn't the traditional solo album the shyt says featuring Ghostface Killer at the bottom and he's on almost every song.
