well that's fair enough

idk maybe Meth has an outside shot but Tical as an album wasn't in the same stratosphere....his popularity and MVP appeal certainly was

maybe one or two Reggie Noble fans will come through

but for all intents and purposes it is between Nas and Big, and rightfully so

This year is between:

Nas
Common
Big
Jeru

Also, boogie monsters had a group classic and artifacts tame one.
Nas should win this poll rather easily cause he ushered in the technical revolution.
That changed the direction and entire landscape.
Jeru was enduring the second worst delay in history behind big l.
So, his album was a styles war sound landscape submission but imo was the best album in 94 and would have been the best album of 93, as well. Yet common, also seized the day.
Big was still offkey skill set wise in this exact time and a style war emcee who still translated because of higher marketing based principles and higher violent based content.
that reflected the westcoast content direction for an east coast artist.

:ohhh:
Nah...
Bandanna P...Banana Bread P was cooking up some marvelous shyt to get your mouth watering that year :wow:

Mos def was the best emcee and artist from 97-99, breh.
Rather easily, it just so happened he was a pawn to a Murdoch media outlet and did not know it. none of us did then.

Ready to Die dropped late '94, Juicy dropped in August. His run was more '95.

Nas dropped the hip-hop bible I'm going with Nas... :ahh:

B.I.G. bit Nas cover in '94
yep agreed

and btw I fukking forgot Scarface
:snoop:
:what::what::what:

now im confused

thats why u have to separate the album from when them singles drop'd

'warning'
is like da hardest shyt ever - but it didn't get released & play on radio/video till early '95

in addition
'who shot ya' wasn't even on RD2
&
'one more chance rmx' is a completey different song then the original
BOTH drop'd in 1995

:jbhmm: yall should have thought thru this much more:patrice:

i say....
said rapper gets more credit/points for when(year) his single/songs came out

What if souls of mischief were pimps, breh.

Please don't overproces them.
Culturally nikkaz were not happy watching biters of souls get more just because they had pjmp content back then.

Don't believe the revision.

So basically we're voting based on popularity? Cause none of the rappers on this list are fukking with Andre 3k lyrically :sas2:

Chu tweaked't,....
Dre was a self admitted souls of mischief biter with pjmp content, breh.
He did not ramp and did not commit culturally till the pr of their one sided change of direction on aquamini.
Where big boi and Andre did not really mesh socially.

There's gonna be arguments both ways :yeshrug:
Easier to just go by the year the album dropped. But we will consider singles/remixes of album cuts from the following year since that all flows naturally from the album.
Plus then I would argue that Big had some classic singles in 95, but no album. :yeshrug:
It just gets silly. :lolbron:

all I know is I listened to Tical for the first time two weeks ago since I swear 1998 and was fukking floored.

Common would get my vote by default. Resurrection is literally the album that got me LISTENING to music, not just hearing it while it played. but @Art Barr ruined that album for me. :mjcry::mjlol:
Yeah man Tical re-entered my regular rotation about 3-4 years ago. That's when I bumped it for the first time and was just like holy shyt these guys were fukkin up everybody.

:dead: @Art Barr... even though I probably don't wanna know cause I love the album... speak on Common Resurrection

Method Man and Pac were the most over rappers at that time. Mainstream loved them both. Hence Meth getting a grammy and every endorsement under the sun and Pac getting mad film roles. Nas and Biggie were the best, but Method man was hella popular and his shyt was tight.

It has to be the album,...
If that is the case then pharcyde could arguably win for late 91 to 95 for how long passin me by drew.
Or busta could win for 96-2001 for how long dangerous and put ya hands where my eyes can see drew. As the longest drawing relevent club record in rap history.
