It was a lifetime award. Also, Garnett missed some games that season and lost his chance at winning when that happened. Everyone figured Paul would have multiple years playing like that and his team being that good. Next season though he blew his knee out and D-Will took the crown as best pg in the league.

Cp3 in 08 is a damn good one. I wanna show Kawhi some love but I can say objectively he hasn't put in enough games in the reg season but clearly his 2 finals mvps show he could win it if he played majority of the season. Wade in 09 wouldn't get it off the team record alone although that team was pretty wack, the worst cast of all the top guys by far, but he was the best player in the league that year.

This would be my second choice.

Some Jerry West season would be my #1. I'll randomly select 1969-70 as the one. Logo was putting up 27-31 with 5-7 assists in his prime. That prime just happened to coincide with Bill Russell, Wilt and Kareem.

2007-08 Chris Paul would be my third choice.

Cp3 07- 08 year was amazing.

CP3 was my first thought, both in terms of career (arguably the GOAT player under 6'4") as well as in terms of MVP-caliber season (2008).

Wade and Kawhi are both great options in terms of best peak. Wade's problem was that he did it for such a shytty team, Kawhi's problem was that his best ball was while playing just 60 or so games.
