They mentioned this story on last week's Intercepted podcast, but here is a recap of how the Walter Reuther of the UAW was friends with Dr. King and helped tie labor to Civil Rights movement. Reuther spoke at the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom in 1963.

Dr. King understood this, but a lot of politicians don't, and sadly many on here.
The civil rights movement was the catalyst. Not the push for Marxism :why:

I work with local 600 members regularly with my business (https://www.icg600.com/) and I wouldn’t say that members are particularly liberal voters.

I am however intrigued to see what down channel effects we will see in their members politically as they move away from a more collective bargaining only philosophy and pressuring politicians as politicians becomes more anti-union and anti-collective bargaining.

southern unions need to grow in size and political influence. i also wouldnt take much from niche unions like cinematography or journalism. the real impact on society comes from the big entry level fields like manufacturing, bus driving, etc. where everybody has a chance to work there and the thing they do is vital to the public at large.

Let me know when you spend some time down south and apply your theories.

I’d love to hear about your southern church tour turning white voters liberal:ehh:

Yeah, it’s gotta be proper blue collar folks. Right now it’s warehouse jobs. I am happy for cinematographers and journalists to organize but that is not the primary group. Its educating the masses.

This just sounds stupid. You clearly have no understanding of the type of work and workers in the film industry.

No, I understand that. There are a lot of film
industry workers and it is blue collar work. I also understand that there are a lot more warehouse Workers in the state of North Carolina than those in the film industry, which is the point.

If you're Bernie you're looking at this stuff like a worthless distraction from real issues. And for anyone who disagrees with my assessment just look at his last two presidential runs and how he lost. Specifically in the south, with black voters.
well thats just cause they dont know whats best for themselves

or atleast thats what the bros told me

Writing off non Economic issues as superficial is why you idiots can’t win.

Either you can't read for shyt or you are just being openly deceptive. I never once wrote off non-economic issues as superficial, and I've highlighted non-economic issues on here hundreds of times. I write off superficial moves as superficial - those actions that make no practical difference in any person's life. Performative bullshyt can be "economic" or "non-economic".

Having a good job is only disqualifying if you agree with Bernie.

Just like I'll only bring up someone being white if you're shytting on those fighting for Black rights, I'm not going to bring up you bring rich unless you're shytting on those trying to help the ones who aren't. I don't have any clue what @No1 does for a living because he's not one of the 5 posters in HL who repeatedly brag about their wealth and/or connections to rich people. All five of whom - unsurprisingly - seem to have a beef with anyone who agrees with Bernie.

You constantly bring up someone not being from the South if you think they're missing the point in Southern voters, but you ignore them not being from the South if they agree with you. How is that any different?
