The fat girl from Hairspray was working in a salon after the movie.

I mean it’s hard to find a a show year after year or a successful movie after movie.

That’s why the lady from Grey’s Anatomy doing 20 seasons. Make money doing the same crap and getting that producer money.

People hated old Hollywood system but it guaranteed work. You had no choice but it was steady if you played the game.

Yup even for white actors after a big tv show that may be it

That is just plain crazy :snoop:

One thing about when you blow up thought is how many people latch onto you. When you pay the managers, lawyers, agents, publicist, your family, friends....it leaves you with a lot less. Either way though, Chadwick should hopefully have some equity on some projects. You ever notice how when someone dies all of a sudden there is a windfall of cash? When your gone...those that were tag alone move on.

thats the thing the Marvel role was Chadwick FINALLY blowing up to make real money. All them other movies he did was purely resume stuff not wealth building stuff

You can make real money in those smaller films depending on the actor/actress you are and contract that you negotiate. He more than likely just didn’t have the pull to make those type of demands yet.

how can you make “real money” on movies that budgets dont call for it?

we have different definitons of “real money” i guess because even a 1 million payout is nothing when its getting taxed 40% + whatever percentages your agent get + God knows when you get your next role so you have to stretch the bread.

You can negotiate for a certain percentage of the films profits and on the backend, which is what a lot of actors/actresses do for smaller films. It’s what RDJ did with Ironman and why Disney will never negotiate that type of contract again.

“Real Money” is a broad general term as if you’re a small time actor/actress than any step up in pay and films would be considered as “real money” to you.

I mean you’re legit not making “real money” with Disney or until later films in the contract though and that’s if they still have use for you after :dwillhuh:

It doesn’t matter what you were making Pre-Disney films as they operate with their own set of contracts and how they do business.

The majority of actors/actresses out here are working odd jobs to supplement income, we just don't see or hear about it publicly. There isn't money or a lucrative career out here in acting in spite of what people think. Geoffrey Owens was here a few weeks ago performing and he flat out said that he took the Trader Joe's job because he had no other choice but to.

Even Chadwick Bosemen's estate (Rip :mjcry:) was only worth less than a million after his death and that was in spite all of the movies he had been in for his career including Marvel.

Yep that's the thing about Hollywood, you might have to wait months and months before you get a phone call about a movie role

It's hard to make it as an actor
Harder to make it as a child actor
even harder to make it as a comedic actor
even more difficult to make it as a black actor.

Trying to make it as a black comedic child actor, don't know if anybody has done that. Kenan Thompson might be the only one who successfully transitioned to adulthood from that lane.
And people clown his career for being underwhelming

I would include Raven in there as well, but I would argue that she hasn't had the same opportunities and level of success that Kenan Thompson has. Still an accomplishment in itself though seeing how long she has been in the game.

Wow man I was wondering what happened to breh. I definitely feel like he could make a resurgence if he wanted to now. A lot of actors get the short end of the stick like that, especially black actors. It's even worse that they're hiring more UK black actors also.

We really don't see the day to day of these actors. I know the pandemic hit a lot of them hard too.
