funny you mention that, because Alfredo is easily, easillyyy my least favorite batch of beats out of those 5 projects.

Bo
Tecmo
Price of Tea
Lulu

all >>> Alfredo in terms of the beats to me. Alfredo is a lot of what Al critics love to critique about him. There are some half-cooked instrumentals on there, and there are more drumless loops on there than on any of those other projects.

Bo Jackson and Super Tecmo might be his most interesting batches of production ever outside of Covert Coup. Lulu is all hard as nails minus one track, and even that one sounds like a cinematic video game. Price of Tea is one of the darkest and grittiest cohesive projects in a long time.

Al lets Boldy James get his best work these days, because they're best friends and Boldy's his favorite rapper. But there's definitely big heat on Tana Talk 4.
The production on Bo is ridiculous so I’m not going crazy acting like skippers because Alchemist isn’t on his A game I just feel like there’s another tier Alchemist can get to & Johnny P’s Caddy is of that echelon & I just feel that Alchemist is giving Benny that top tier level clean production. To each his own but just how I feel if it even makes any sense just the style of production.

Comparing Boldy James to Prodigy is blasphemy. Such a wild take that I honestly don’t know if you’re just Boldy James at this point :russ:
:dwillhuh: Bro listen to Alchemist of all people. He says Boldy reminds him of Prodigy. Look at damn near any video of Boldy and read the comments. When M1CS came out in 2013 people said Boldy reminded them of P’s voice. Alc literally says Boldy is the closest person he’s met to being like Prodigy as a rapper and as a person. Take it the fukk out on Al if that’s a problem.

Don’t play this with me man. Prodigy is my favorite rapper of all time, and I rocked his avatar on here from the day he passed until the day DMX passed.

I never said Boldy accomplished what P did or anything like that. I’m not drawing a false equivalence between P’s legendary status and Boldy.

Unfortunately you don't have a say breh. I'll say whatever I want to. Don't get mad at me. Take it out on Alchemist and all the other people that have been saying it since 2013. It took me a long time to get the comparison.

My roommate heard Bo Jackson and immediately said "This dude reminds me of Prodigy." One of many examples from Alchemist below.

Interviewer: I was going to say, Boldy and Prodigy are so alike in how monotone their flow is.
Alchemist: Oh, yeah, for sure. Me and Boldy could put in work and I’d say like 80 to 90 percent now, like how it got to be when I was with P. When we did Return to the Mac, It was like 90 percent of the beats if I liked something for him, he was like ‘Yep.’ Maybe 10 percent he was like I don’t know about this one. But I feel the same way [with Boldy]. If it’s something I like for him, he pretty much gets it. It’s just as a texture. Not to get too nerdy here, but his voice, even when he talks, you could put it on a beat. It’s like water to me when he rhymes. It’s always coincidental that he’s rhyming, if that makes sense. Like, “Oh, shyt,” because he’s talking so crazy, but then the words are connecting in crazy ways. It’s easy working with Bold, because I can imagine what he’ll potentially sound like on a beat. But then obviously when we get up, he always goes left and blows my mind and does some new shyt. His voice is a texture and how he sounds on a record is so interesting that your ears perk up the minute you hear it, and then the flow is so effortless it’s almost unfair. I rapped as a kid before I made beats, so I know how fukking hard it is to do what he does. It's like Prodigy in the same way that it seems so simple, but I dare you to do the same thing. So that type of thing will always get me, and make it easy for me to make beats.

"Boldy sounds like prodigy. And that's no diss because it's very few rappers that can run over an alchemist beat. He killed this his flow might be lazy but he was talking that shyt"
"I can see why Alchemist likes Boldy. Reminds me of Prodigy. Especially his lyrical content."
"Listening to boldy is like listening to prodigy"
"Boldy feels like the closest thing to Prodigy for Alchemist projects, im happy for Alchemist for that, even if Boldy off course is his own person."
"R.I.P Prodigy I'm sure he was in the stu when Al and Boldy made this because this project straight flawless!"
"Boldy is Detroit's version of Prodigy in his prime!"
"Boldy is a younger version of Prodigy if he woulda been from Detroit. Plus I love the fact how heavily Alchemist rocks wit him."
"Alchemist got Prodigy again...from Detroit. Just finished banging some of Boldys tracks he’s mad ill"

@Heavy_Handz im in a bad mood today based on other shyt. Not trying to take it out on you too bad bro
I’m a grown ass man, I respect the banter. No issues with me personally. I just feel that Alchemist will always be tied to Prodigy in a way that comparisons are bound to happen if a guy even remotely resembles Prodigy. I personally don’t hear it or see it at all but that’s why we get to have our own opinions. It’s all good.

This my song of the year so far. Keep playing it back.

And yea I'm gonna cosign the Prodigy comparison. Is Boldy as good of a rapper? fukk no. But he's putting out great music with Alch right now, and it reminds me of the P and Alch connect. Immaculate drug raps over some of the darkest beats I've heard in ages. It's a legendary run, salute the man.

Absolutely. Man, the majority of people compare Boldy and Prodigy. Another thing I noticed they have in common is they both start a lot of their verses with super powerful bars. P is the absolute goat of monster opening bars. Boldy is very good at it too, though.

All this pressin' is depressin', the pressure is still pressin'
Against my flesh, it's beyond measure

:wow:

Also, the joint they did together in 2015 was low key fire.

:heh: I do make a living teaching fighting and combat sports, so that side comes out sometimes.

Man the few times I get worked up for real it's crazy. It takes a lot to get me there. I remember back in like 2010 on another board someone was talking crazy shyt and I actually posted my number and address if they ever wanted to pull up and scrap it out. Not even threatening but just saying if they wanted to talk that shyt then actually be about it and come see me anytime.

:snoop: so stupid in hindsight.

Hot take but boldy on his current run has some stuff on par with prime P imo

Was bumping speed demon today. He's a monster. He's just improved so much.

I don't even think it's that hot of a take bro. Boldy has become a monster in a very short time. He's never on social media and he and Al don't hype these albums besides doing a few videos for each one. So it seems surprising. But yeah, Boldy has become one of the best rappers in the game. He was NOT rapping like this 5 years ago, or even 2 years ago.

P is literally my favorite rapper of all time, and one of the only people that I've never met where I was legit distraught when they passed. I do think there are a lot of unique things about P that will never be duplicated. The way he weaved in conspiracy stuff and the spiritual element he was on near the end of his life. Classic group albums. Crazy non-sequitur bars that were hilarious but menacing at the same time.

All the different aquatic references from so many points of view on Ocean Prime by Boldy highlights some crazy type of thinking. I feel like Prodigy might've written a verse like that. Rapping about vanishing in the Bermuda Triangle and stuff like that. And how perfect would P have sounded on Flight Risk and EPMD?
:mjcry:

But yeah. Setting aside the P comparison, Boldy is just one of the best out. He arguably out rapped every feature on Bo Jackson. And how many people can flow like liquid over a weird ass beat like Speed Trap?
:mindblown:

I really hope Boldy is on Tana Talk 4 :banderas:
