what about Brad Pitt? I think he would have been the perfect Bruce Wayne...not sure about Bats though

For those wondering about reactions to Michael Keaton's casting for the Tim Burton Batman film...from the L.A. TImes in 1988:

Mr. Mom as Batman?
July 03, 1988

So Michael Keaton has been cast as Batman/Bruce Wayne?

He might have made a good Joker, but his comic style, which he seems unable to shake (but can amplify), has doomed this promised “serious” treatment of Bob Kane’s character to the same tired, boring level of artificial “camp” that made the TV series a hit yet simultaneously doomed it to an early cancellation.

The painful lesson of “Superman III”–when you don’t treat venerable superheroes with respect the audience rejects the property–has been ignored in this cynical, opportunistic attempt to capitalize on the success of “Beetlejuice” (same director, same star).

The Sam Hamm script that director Tim Burton is filming has many blunders, but does treat the characters basically seriously. Obviously, in casting Keaton, Burton is rejecting this approach altogether and going after a manic comedy.

Batman has been a popular character for almost five decades–not because he is a figure of comedy, but precisely because he is \o7 not\f7 , especially in the last couple of years. By ignoring this, by casting a clown as Batman, Warner Bros. and Burton have defecated on the history of Batman and on the hopes of those who appreciate the character and his potential.

Better they should have filmed Frank Miller’s “Batman: the Dark Knight Returns.” But that would have required courage, taste and imagination.

Ben Is a great director. However, I do not see the swag for Batman. It's like casting one of those boys in One Direction to play 007.

For those wondering about reactions to Michael Keaton's casting for the Tim Burton Batman film...from the L.A. TImes in 1988:

Keaton was the first to do it, the released a teaser to quell all those doubts, to show people it wasn't Adam West style. Also they didn't say Keaton was a bad actor he just never did this type of role. He was great in beatlejuice. Ben Affleck has never been great in anything
now there's a history on film, Nolan movies are still fresh in the mind, people dikk ride them endlessly, the pressure is on
playing Batman shouldn't be hard thing for an actor to do
the films all come down to the director, Tim Burton created a visual style and presentation in 89 Batman that is unmatched to this day
Danny Eflman made an iconic score which is still associated with the character to this day
He fukked up with Returns, because they gave him complete control and he turned the shyt into the Nightmare Before Christmas meets Edward Scissorhands x Batman
Synder creating a world where Batman and Superman coexist will be his biggest challenge, and will be the deciding factor if its garbage or not

I bet that guy spent a lot of time getting stuffed in lockers during his school age years.

he probably still do. But this the audience for this movies now
when keaton played Batman the audience were kids, adults took their children to see it
so if you ben affleck these the type of people you have to deal with
