I lived for 18 months in Vermont, I can confirm this to be true. I wasn't treated poorly but just the looks the kids gave me, because for some of them, I was the first black person they've ever seen in person. I felt like an alien.
Going out to places, hoping I'd see at least one black person that day. You'd have to be born into that otherwise coming from a mixed area like Miami, that shyt is pure hell.

It's not about separating, it's about trailblazing. We need to stop calling each other sellouts so easily. The jealousy and resentment is one of the worst byproducts of white supremacy.

I went to school in oakland,ca but started smoking blunts, skippping class etc so I got sent to redondo beach after freshman year to live with my dad. During that time I got egged, got jumped, had my nose broke, arrested for no id , 2 bytche broke up with me cuz they white friends was tripping and the other cuz she was a chola and the ese's started triiping even though I hung with them on occasion. Had race riots at school. Was like 30 black students total if that. Got harassed by pigs, fought surfer gangs. Heard ****** alot. On the flip side it was great living that beach life.

There's no way you can live in these types of environments as a black person and not have to tame or adjust your behavior to make these cacs feel comfortable

I can't imagine living in a city dominated by one race. I love the diversity of my city. Love the mix of different cultures and people. While i can't relate to your situation, I feel that being in an equally diverse area instead of alienating yourself works best. I admire that you want to build up the black community. But remember, it's becoming a global world out there and it's gotta be taken advantage of. Like the one guy who said he doesn't care what white people think. That's the way to go. Don't care what anyone thinks. Everybody should just try to make their money, make sure their and their families health is straight, and just keep a positive outlook on life, no matter which issue could be bothering you at the moment. Life too short for you to be constantly feeling uncomfortable by others where you live. Let others judge, but God makes the final judgement.

If I have a child I want them to grow up in an area like I did, my home town had a pretty even mix of Hispanic, black, and white people.
I'd want them to grow up among many types of people, not just one group.
That seems like the strangest thing in the world too me, I've always been able to function amongst large groups of different races without a problem, I wouldn't want them being infected with the vitriol I'm seeing in this thread.

I can't wait to get back to NYC. I love the diversity of the area. I realized alot about myself as a back person and about how racial privilege works from living there. That's why I can't stand being here in Pittsburgh right now. It's anger inducing and depressing. Call me racist, but I'm getting sick and tired of seeing white people everywhere I go and I have no desire to live among them in massive numbers like in most places in the US. I need to be around my people man...
