Being a teacher is horrible, my girl is a teacher and it's has even wrecked havoc on our relationship. She works as a teacher in a head start inclusion class. There are no jobs in real schools So shes only making 43k a year. Thus shes struggling badly with her student loans. Though partially her fault because her degree is special ed so if she applied for NYC board of ed she probably would have gotten a job. She only gets 2 weeks off in August. It's not even the kids that cause the trouble, it's the other staff. She had one teacher threaten her because one of the assistants said my GF said so and so about, which she didn't, when her supervisors came in about the situation, the assistant said my GF was just stressed out because of Hurricane Sandy. Shes had assistants steal from. Another one hit the kids. Supervisors that don't know or care. She at one point found a good job in Coney Island making 48k a year with yearly raises and a good staff, but the commute coming home was 2 hours. So yeah...being a teacher fukking sucks.
Have your chic get sent to the NYC board of ed rubber room breh in Staten Island. They send problem teachers there and all they do is sit around play cards and talk on cells for 8 hrs then go home

How does she have a Spec.Ed degree and can't find a job? That's damn near impossible.

Ok good, my bad if i assumed she was NYCDOE. Society needs more teachers like her. I think the system is set up incorrect where people who actually educate HUMANS and deal with peoples kids on a daily basis, who are confronted with all kind of issues, dangers and bear the burden of being responsible for kids lives should be compensated better than they currently are....but....I aint trying to have my taxes go up b to raise some ungrateful nigglets

Teacher isn't so bad when you factor in they work 170 days a year.

Plus you are actually helping and inspiring people.

Now cops.... @unit321 can expound
shytty thing is a lot of teachers work summer jobs cause that's 3 months of money that they lose out on, but I figure that's for those who don't spend wisely. Either way a teacher is something I'm considering being so meh.

She didn't apply to NYC Board of Ed this year. But on LI there is nothing at all for what shes certified for. So basically all she can find is jobs at inclusion and special ed pre schools making low 40's a year.

No, my mom is a teacher

Their pay is spread over 12 months.

They also have a retirement plan that they don't have to contribute to.

The truly bad thing about teaching is that when the school year is on it the work never stops.

being a teacher isn't bad unless you work in a shytty district. the pay for the numbers of days you work per year is nice and the work is rewarding if students are actually learning and improving.

cops on the other hand are getting paid way too much, imo. same with highway patrol. whenever i see either, they're just chilling in their car, cruising on their patrol or eating donuts. firefighters are in the same boat as cops for me. most of their calls are minor bullshyt and they have way too much downtime for the amount theyre making.

shyt salaries. You do all that work and you don't get a fair paycheck, and you have to go through all this bullshyt just to be eligible for those jobs. Don't know why anybody would wanna take their career in either of those routes. Rather deliver pizzas
Would you like to clean 8 foot high walls of poop in a sewer, friend? :ld:

How so if they're not working during the summer?

Well of course not, tbh just the idea of writing up daily plans seems like a bytch, and to teach them multiple times a day<<

My mother was a chicago public school teacher for 30 years(retired now). She taught directly across the street from the robert taylor homes and taught down the street at john farren. Both schools in the hood and taught a bunch of wild ass maniacs with crackhead parents I never understood why but She liked teaching. There are former students to this day who call her to talk, invite her to their weddings, send her pics of their kids and send her pics of them graduating college and say she pushed them and made a difference in their lives.
