I remember either Stretch or Bobbito saying Big L and Jay already battled before the 10 minute freestyle classic one time in Harlem and they already knew of each other and they crews....he might of turned down battles once he got succesful but Jay ain't the first succesful nikka to bypass a battle...alotta those old legends went around actin they wuznt throwin obvious subliminals at each other the Kanes,rakims,krs,biggie,cube etc...but Jay put in work before he got succesful and sum even afterwards even tho mostly subliminal....u can't say he wuz duckin nikkas like Big L when he wuz battlin nikkas like Big L live lol.

And far as that freestyle I gained a lot of respect for Jay in that,it wuznt even a battle but I will say it sounded lik Big L came prepared and from what I remember it sounded like Jayz wuz truly "freestyling" off the top...none of those memorized rhymes he came with once he got on and got popular....don't see how he hasn't done enuff to prove himself in the field...he's battled big names live and on wax

Why would Jay be scared of Kiss? But not be scared of Prodigy & Nas?

With Prodigy and Nas, Jay was just pissing on graves. Prodigy was done at this point. With respect to Nas, he just dropped the wackness known as Nastradamus a year prior, everybody thought he was done too. Which was part of the reason why he ended up winning the beef, because people didn't expect him to swing back the way he did after Takeover.

Jadakiss, in 2001, besides Jay was the hottest rapper in NY at the time. Jay was only going at rappers he considered to be an automatic W for him in the public eye (or so he thought, in Nas' case). In '01, the streets were fukking w/ Kiss HEAVY, so he wouldn't have that advantage.

He also knew full well if he went at Kiss he could very well end up losing the battle on wax. This isn't the same Jada we hearing now. In the early 2000s, everything Kiss was spitting was that pure uncut.

So yea, Jiggaman wanted no parts, Sigel & Nas already confirmed it

The Wait A Minute & Fiesta tracks were the first shots sent out, if my memory is on point. That was some of what Sigel was referring to when he was like they were gettin at Jay, and he jumped in because Hov was scared to respond.

I know for sure Uh-Huh came after Beans' Put Ya Hands Up & Jada's disco beat response, and before State Property went into Hot 97 dissing Dblock/Nas

are you really comparing the relevancy of an '00 kurupt to that of jadakiss & camron? dog, kurupt was non-existent up here after death row. the term "irrelevant" may be an over-statement.


basically dmx boinked foxy, kurupt made a record crying about it, and at the end of the day, nobody cared.

as for the remix thing, what reason would that be? lets not act like those remixes were the same exact songs as the original versions that jada was on. nowhere near.

Na, Uh-Huh for one wasn't heard until Kiss' album came out, and by that time the beef with Sigel had already started. And Kiss only started going at Sigel's head (i.e. "I ate too many Beanie Macs" line on Uh-Huh) after the Put Ya Hands Up diss. Up until Sigel dissed him, Jay was the target.

I remember it like this, Beanie got on the .357 beat at Hot 97, and sent shots at Kiss, this was like 2 weeks before they dropped albums, then 'Here We Go Again' dropped', after that Beanie did his 'Put Ya Hands Up', then Kiss came back with 'fukk Beanie', then 'Wait A Minute', then the back to back 'Powerhouses' and Jada spit the same verse on Rap City around that time, then the SP freestyles, then the Lox over 'Jigga That nikka' at the very end of the summer.

just like when he had to battle cam and there was no state prop to run behind, he threw money at tru life and them and gave him a "record deal". thats how pathetic dude is.

Jay never sent bleek at nas, bleek did it on his own after he thought nas was dissing him iww, and jay told bleek to fall back he would handle it, he never sent bleek at game either, he does game on that freestyle on hot 97, and game went on to diss almost everybody on the roc(bleek, young guns)

being real I dont think jay could handle kiss in 01, but he was already going at nas and P so he didn't need to battle kiss, and kiss was salty cause jay was killing his shyt wit remixes, and then jay diss kiss on heart of the city and superugly "I dont have to two way u gays, this is not beef this rap homie, I aint got a scratch on me"
