Calling bf1/bfv casual and gimmicky while claiming the biggest casual gimmicky bf game is good

BF1/BFV was the BF series becoming increasingly more casual from BF3/BF4. BF2042 is also a casual game.

And I'm only calling BF2042 a good game now in Season 3.

The problem with BFV was the lack of content and it being buggy at launch.

Have you played BFV recently? From the building, movement system, how the guns handle, the destruction, the team airstrikes/perks, the map design, etc... All of that is many times better than BF2042.

I own BF2042 and have only put a max total of 2 hours into the game. I'd rather continue playing BFV when I get the chance.

The gunplay / movement system in BFV is the best in the series but otherwise BFV was a wack BF game and there's a lot of revisionist history going on with that game. Probably because it's the next most recent BF game that was currently in a much better state than BF2042 was until this season.

Even outside of the bad launch and ongoing support issues, the maps were terrible in BFV. BF2042 had worse launch maps, but by the end of this season more than half of them would have been reworked.

They also got rid of actual game modes Obliteration, Carrier Assault, CTF, etc for bullshyt gimmicks like Operations and War Pigeons.

BF1 was still a good game but it was a step down from BF4 outside of being a smoother experience.

Operations is just three different maps of breakthrough with unnecessary cut scenes

I'll take all those game modes over cut scenes in a multiplayer game

Yeah I'm strictly talking PC versions of these games. BF4 on consoles was trash in performance.

This was some mixed mode playlist server. There's still a lot of people playing BF4.

I keep BF4 installed like I used to with source / 1.6. BF1 and BFV both got bushed after a couple months.

I just tried it out on the Steam Deck yesterday but i was getting like 30 fps in multiplayer.

I have been playing BFV since launch. There isn't any revisionist history. It is a better game than BF2042 even if we judge them 1 year post launch.

BF2042 has surpassed BF1 in activity, and is closing in on BFV on the Steam charts recently.

Also the game is on EA Play / Game Pass now and is going to have free to play events on other platforms later in December if you want to play it before buying it.
