if the marvel movies can make 1b-1.5b in this climate i fully maintain that a great batman/superman movie could have made 1.5b-2b.

You do realize they would have to re-market the film, adding millions more to an already high marketing budget. That, along with having to split any profits with a theater, would eat into any revenue they brought in with a re-release.

And there is no guarantee the re-release wouldn't bomb during the summer, after word of mouth was so bad from the general public. DC stans would go but good luck convincing Joe Smoe, his Wife Jane Smoe, and the kids to pay $50 to see something they just saw 3 months ago, when Finding Dory or X-Men is out.

I doubt WB is that stupid. Save that shyt for your bluray release and eat there. I think the home market sales will be good.

I think you need to make the characters and actors playing them more established, well known and likable in the role. Just putting them in a movie together alone isn't enough. Even if the recent movie was a gem I do think 1 billy to 1.5 was the ceiling because this is another new Batman and Cavill is like barely known and not synonymous with Superman. Being characters that people know and like would make a confrontation meaningful.

If WB/DC and Zach Snyder played it more humble maybe people wouldn't be pointing and laughing now. They made the claim, 'We are different than the current superhero movies cause we have icons, not flavor of the month heroes like Antman.' Or purposely trying to release it the same day as A Marvel movie.
And yeah Supes and Bats may be the most recognizable but check the scoreboard who is getting the most love out here? Financially and critically the people have moved on.

bro literally everything about this post is false.

1. "dealing with icons works against them"

this movie made 160 mil opening weekend is purely out of brand loyalty. the exact same movie re-titled darkman v ultraman: dawn of justice doesn't do a fraction of the gross. ask the makers at disney if they have a problem making movies about established icons.

yea, because zach's version of these characters are terrible. in fact these characters PERIOD are terrible. undeveloped, underwritten, and underutilized. they are walking plot devices.

superman the movie was a colossal box office hit and so was batman 89. the nolan trilogy was grossing billions. these characters are both proven box office attractions. even superman returns which looked like dogshyt from the trailers opened up huge that year. also don't forget that the announcement of this movie a few years back almost broke the internet for a day.

By being a dope movie. If it's dope af, gets the great reviews, it can cross a billy. We shall see if they learn from the mistakes but then again with JL already filming, depending on the script it could be another shakey release. I hope not.
