The tone is similar (no quips like the Marvel movies), the rating is identical (PG-13), the gore/violence level is similar (probably more in Hunger Games), and from a general audience, neither one would be considered crowd pleasing action comedies. I don't think either one of them are "dark" movies, but the point is you can't argue the Batman movies are "too dark" to release in China, when something that fits the tone of those movies released without any problems.

Even with a great response BvS would have struggled for a billion.

this is what happened:

- "i'm taking my kids to the movies on saturday anything good out?"
- "ugh don't take them to see that batman vs superman movie... it was awful. zootopia was great though"

and just like that BVS missed out on hundreds of millions of dollars.

it doesn't take a genius to know that if the movie had been any good at all, and actually won over parents AND kids, it would have been an unstoppable juggernaut.

even if everyone didn't turn out opening weekend, once word got out that it was great... eventually everyone would go and see it.

It would not have been an unstoppable juggernaut you're just speculating . There's absolutely nothing that suggests that BvS should have made as much as Civil War.

Whether JL is received well or not it will still come in less than Spider-Man, GotG, and with reports on how funny Thor 3 is it will probably end up behind that

But BVS has made more money than any Spider-Man film except Spider-Man 3. It even received worse reviews than the latest Spider-Man film but made more.

MOS made more than any phase 1 MCU film except Avengers. It even made more money than Thor 2.

I just can't agree with this tone BS y'all keep talking about, especially coming off of TDK and TDKR. If those didn't exist, than maybe.

CW is going to top out around 1.2 billion. BvS is topping out at $875-$880M

Why is one considered a huge difference and the other is considered "close"
