When did they have time to plan anything? Doomsday started fukking shyt up the second they knew he existed. They figured out how to kill him mid-fight. The spear needed to kill him is the same spear that was going to be used to kill Superman. Just being near it was harmful to him. Wonder Woman was holding Doomsday down with the lasso. She wasn't doing any harm to him during the fight, he was just getting stronger. Batman isn't strong enough to penetrate Doomsday's exterior (pause) so it leaves Superman up to the task. You distinctly remember a part of the fight but forget the worldwide response to Superman's death, which was one of hope and optimism. You forget the man whose sole purpose was to kill Superman ended up being encouraged to find other metahumans to protect the world. You forget that same man's response to Wonder Woman saying that men are horrible was that men are still good. Hope and optimism is what everything post death of Superman was about in that film. It would have been more hopeful if he continued doing what wasn't working until he died which would have meant the end of the world as opposed to him doing what he knew might mean his death but would save a world full of people who hated him/blamed him for the events at the end of Man of Steel? "If you seek his monument, look around you" was one of the last images in the movie. The end of the movie was all about foreshadowing what miserable nerds have been asking for for years.

Agreed.

this is why the franchise is already done, superman already died. we have already seen the most dramatic thing that could possibly happen in this universe.

if superman's death is now officially off the table, how can you possibly raise the stakes moving forward?

the studio has to be aware of this.
The stakes are raised by whoever the villain is and what his plan is. If Darkseid shows up with a plan to destroy the Earth then the stakes are high.
If there is a Crisis level event that threaten the universe then the stakes are high.

also, although it wasn't down as smoothly as I'd like, his death seemingly put some humanity and hope back in batman

The movie isn't flawless by any means, but when you try to be as ambitious in a genre that is dominated by movies that don't try to be ambitious, you're gonna have some slip ups. Bruce was out of the superhero game. He got back into it fueled by anger. He's going forward fueled by a sense of duty not only to mankind but also to the man/alien he vowed to kill but came to realize may have been more committed to Earth than he was.

so the stakes were high in green lantern then...

every movie has a supervillain who wants to destroy earth. the stakes stem more from the danger they present to our main character(s).

Who were you more concerned for in TDKR, Bruce or the people of Gotham. Who did you care about more.

The focus is never on the people, it's on the hero.
If that's the case noone should be crying about MOS or Avengers collateral damage

While he was telling Lois about his future demise he could have just yelled to WW. "Hey, try stabbing it with this! I can't cause it is harmful to me."? One sentence and obvious strategy could have been a better plan than what he actually did.
All that 'optimism' you're pointing out just seemed like boxes to check off to ensure there is another movie. If miserable nerds asked for that you would think the movie would be better received.

Superman yelling for her to do it tho isn't what he'd do in character. He'd take that on his own whether it's right or wrong in the eyes of anyone else. If there's a bullet to take or jump in front of he'd rather be the one to take it vs letting someone else which is part of his weakness

At least exhaust every other possibility. It just seems like suicide otherwise. Dying for no reason is not admirable.

Yeah, yell "Stab him with this" while Doomsday was fighting her. In your attempt to find something wrong with how things go down, you just created a plot point that is actually more ridiculous than doing the stanky leg to defeat a villian with an Infinity Gem. Congrats. Doomsday was on par, if not superior than, both Superman and Wonder Woman in terms of strength and speed. Wonder Woman holding him down is why he was able to be stabbed in the first place. Miserable nerds aren't happy with the film because they're miserable nerds. Being miserable is what they do
