Anyone that thinks burning down mom and pop stores and houses as solution to rebuilding doesn't understand the US goverment won't help out ethnic families, much less black families. A lot of times they get the cheapest insurance with the highest deductible and cut off payments. You think the US government will hand out aid money to black businesses? No they won't, point blank. The will handout rebuilding money to the major corporation WAYYY before they think about handing out to mom and pop businesses. So what happens to these business, they will get bought out by some major US or Chinese investment firm and will make huge profits and while owning several different businesses. If your insurance is inadequate to rebuild your business, as an owner you will cut your loses by selling low and fast to usually a big bidder.

I think a massive general strike of students and workers in basically paralyizing B-More would have made a better PR impact and probably had the same economic effect. Of course the counter argument is that it won't work and it will take too long to organize.

Wrong. The Haitians' economy was destroyed after their rebellion, after all, the economy was based on slavery. Meanwhile, the Tea Party riot also destroyed property.

So people shouldn't riot for causes if there are tanks waiting for them? That's nonsense. Cacs had tanks and assault rifles in the 60s too, and people still rioted. Ultimately I agree that cacs can just kill everybody and dead the issue, but the point is that black riots and violences have led to change.
