If QT's name was on this, people would love it.
Or maybe not because this is a QT movie with a bit of maturity thsat hasn't been seen since Jackie Brown
For me, it’s the dialogue and the setting and just the direction. Drew is great at a mystery and drawing that mystery out while building characters through dialogue and action rather than exposition. He drops you in the middle of things (cloverfield, cabin in the woods) and allows you to catch up without feeling like he’s explaining everything.
I love the setting, loved the music, and all of the acting was great. The movie just checks all my boxes for my sensibilities and what I love about a good story.
But who was on the film reel, breh?

Kennedy
Oh I’m going with Kennedy. Seemed to be the most obvious to me. I hear your MLK thing but Kennedy was a known adulterer and there were always rumors the fbi had footage or recordings of he and Marilyn
Maybe. Only difference is QT doesn't have the knack for good mystery. He tried with Hateful 8 but it's all spoiled because Tarantino can't help himself. If QT's name was on this, people would love it.

I could see Bobby K (Tho I think more evidence points to MLK), but JFK died in 1963. To my knowledge, Bobby wasn't fukking wit Marilyn.
Miles explicitly states the footage was from about a year prior to the events of the movie which took place in 1969.
Oh. Well yeah I really didn’t think much about it past “must be Kennedy” and let it go lol. It’s like the golden briefcase in pulp fiction. It’s a nice McMuffin but ultimately just that.
First time seeing it on HBO. I thought it was pretty good. A non psychological thriller version of Identity. Jon Hamm’s character was talking to J. Edgar Hoover, it was definitely Kennedy on the tape.
