Watching it again. Ending is still trash, wish they had further explored the shadow organization rather than bringing Thor in.

Kinda want to watch vacancy now. Are there any other good hotel thrillers worth checking out?

Super Cheech,
I am assuming it was President Kennedy

I still think this movie comes off as a Tarantino lite. And not a particularly good one.

Decent flick. Didn’t care for Thor Manson’s Cult of Odin. It was introduced late. It would’ve been a little better, for the sister characters sake, if the writing built it up more early on. Those 2 were the weakest.

Also making the bellboy a bad ass toward the end was :mjlol: shyt was a random 180. :dead:

And yea, movie was too long. Should’ve cut 15-25 minutes.

Just watched this. I thought it was ok/good. I can actually see why some really liked it and others were underwhelmed. Cynthia Erivo definitely stole the show for me. It's like they didn't know what they had in her. Immediately after watching I went to search for her rendition of "This ol heart of mine". Then they release the soundtrack without her renditions. Later they release one with her renditions, but they miss the mark in how they compose it:

This pales in comparison to what the movie set up with her a cappella version

Seems like a huge missed opportunity to me. Coulda been a hit in 2018/2019.

Who was on the film reel?

Surprised there's not more chatter about this, especially on the coli. I feel pretty confident that it's MLK Jr. The movie takes place in 1969, Miles mentions that the tape was taken about a year or so ago and Billy Lee and Rose note that that he's dead. MLK was assassinated April 4, 1968. Plus someone talks about he should be able to screw who he wants to. We all know the FBI had been building a ton of files of King. Finally, I thought it was purposeful that they had Jeff Bridges hand the film to Cynthia and her burn it as it didn't matter. Thought it was kinda obvious it was MLK

@MartyMcFly @FlyRy since y'all loved it, I'm curious on your thoughts on who was on the reel

For me, it’s the dialogue and the setting and just the direction. Drew is great at a mystery and drawing that mystery out while building characters through dialogue and action rather than exposition. He drops you in the middle of things (cloverfield, cabin in the woods) and allows you to catch up without feeling like he’s explaining everything.

I love the setting, loved the music, and all of the acting was great. The movie just checks all my boxes for my sensibilities and what I love about a good story.
