There was no tension, the pacing was disastrous, the writing was subpar, and the actors never managed to get ahold of the material, though I think the singer did an admirable job.

I had no issues with Hemsworth, it was all just so sterile, and forced. It isn't a takedown of the post Tarantino 90's, it isn't a satire, it is simply an imitation, served up for no real purpose other than the directors apparent fetish vanity project. I love "10 Little Indian" movies, the issue here is, there is no real mystery or suspense to anything. Almost everything is apparent from the beginning, and lest I forget the awful, stop and start direction.

I am shocked almost, by the positive reviews from top critics, maybe I shouldn't be. I just can't see what anyone would see in this. It isn't funny. It isn't moving. It isn't well written. It isn't suspenseful. I see the potential, with the setting, and the concept, but it falls apart minutes into the movie. There is never a sense of creating a believable world for these characters to inhabit.
I don't agree with all these criticisms but I was truly baffled by the decisions made early on. The opening scene literally gives away one of the character's motivations to be at the motel long before we should know of it so you don't buy anything this character says when we should. The same thing goes with showing Hemsworth in the mini flashback an hour before he makes his entrance, which ruins all the build-up and suspense of whom Rosie called and what's coming.

Goddard definitely made some huge errors here trying to do "foreshadowing" and instead just giving you two-thirds of the reveal so anyone can figure it out.

It works for the most part. But it’s also a movie that hits all of my sweet spots. The music, the dialogue, the characters, the pace, the mystery, the twists, the themes. Im predisposed to love this movie

I understand different tastes, and people partial to different things....but I seriously struggle to comprehend, those of you saying you loved it?

Please tell me what....

The music? Terrible, overused 60's songs, so on the nose, no subtlety. I understood he was "ripping off" Tarantino rip offs, but what was the joke? Where was the satire?

Was there anything funny in the entire movie? A single line? A single sentence?

Suspense?

Pointing out cliches and tropes in cinema format isn't deep or compelling, and for me, not even entertaining.

It looked good and had a cool set up, and that's as far as I would ever go.

I missed this and Overlord in theaters.

I can buy this digitally for $5.00 in 4K because I have $10 in Roku credits for Fandangonow.(which will port everywhere due to Movies Anywhere)

This is cheaper than it will cost to rent it on January 1st so I'm probably gonna do it.

I really liked this. It kind of reminded me of Identity a little bit?? Cynthia Erivo was the highlight of the movie to me, she's a great singer too

Overlord is also dope and needs to be seen on the biggest screen possible
