Yea “OOPS BABIES” are a problem and burden for single mothers. What SHOULD be happening is young black men getting into trades and/or university and establishing themselves so they are ready to propose and have families by their late 20s early 30s, and young women should be holding out and waiting to have children with a responsible guy. HS girls shouldn’t be having oops babies OUT OF WEDLOCK. They should be pairing up with capable men when they’re a little older.

ANYWAY.

Marriage and family need to be encouraged and supported by society. There’s a reason why a lot of young women are holding off/pushing back on marriage and it isn’t all about “hot girl summer” etc. This isn’t about the party girls.

There are high earning black men that don't want kids because of the regressive laws that will make them broke due to alimony and child support. Change those laws first, lower the cost of living, and then we can get somewhere.

I have four other adult siblings. The youngest just made it to 30. We all middle to upper middle class in income and lifestyle. None of us have children. Parents are showing some very early signs of sadness.

I have three other first cousins and only one has children. Just had his second who is a year apart from his first (two boys 1yo and 2yo). He's saying he's done though.

Out of a generation of eight millennial adults in my immediate family, only one has kids. The two babies are the only ones in our family younger than 29 years old.

This is the issue though. The likelihood of having kids decreases with income and education, not what you expect if money is the only issue.

But real talk: how many of you are married? You considering your Haitian shorty a wife?

I can understand not wanting kids, but our most able bs'ing about marriage is a big problem.

You know the deal. This is the issue. Korea spent billions on this and they are at 0.8 kids per woman. Money is part of the issue but people also aren't prioritizing kids. Family is no longer seen as really aspirational. Marriage is but not family.

What a lot of people actually mean by this, is that they can't afford to forgo discretionary income,quality of life...or be obligated to make decisions in the best interest of their children.

when you look at having children as logic gate vs. a natural human occurrence you'll almost inevitably come to the conclusion to not having children.

A lot of valid reasons have been given why people aren't having kids. But a very simple one is that some people realize it is their choice to make and prefer not to do it. Far too many people bring children into the world without really considering is this something that they truly want for themselves. To have a child because your spouse wants one, parents want you to have one or because you think you're just suppose to like it's a life requirement, is a contributing factor to people's quality of life becoming degraded. The true responsibility of molding a life is one that requires a healthy and WANTING individual, mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually. Sadly many parents never get it together which then fukks up their children's' lives and continue the vicious cycle. How many times do we see our friends and family lose themselves to parenthood, even with the best intentions? Some even drown in it for years as it hits some way different than expected. The more conscious people become they tend to make the best choices to ensure the life THEY live is to the quality THEY want it to be.

Which I understand who NOW a lot of blue states like NY and CA are offering FREE college education to everyone who graduated high school with a 3.0 and above. Student loans is a huge factor why educated professionals are forgoing having kids altogether
