I have a really, really hard time believing cacs gonna run Dominicans out the Heights :damn:

They'll do it easily if they choose to...for two reasons

1. Most do not own shyt, they rent.
2. The more apartment buildings that exist, the easier it is to displace.

a block of 5-7 homes takes up the same amount of space as a apartment building that houses hundreds.

you can get rid of the renters who live in a 15 story apartment in a matter of years... it can take decades to get rid of a single homeowner.

Williamsburg was always a mostly Rican and Jewish hood with some blacks and ethnic European groups from what I remember and it's been gentrifying since the 90's, it's been a hipster haven for over a decade not exactly anything new honestly.

fukk no. If the city is safer but the city looks nothing like New York, it's not New York anymore. Ut might as well just be Ohio.

So you saying you'd rather see NYC going backwards back into a crime infested shythole just so it can look like old New York?

You sound like u don't have kids.

Houston/ATL
Also knowing alot of people want my head over some prior shyt it would probably be best if I relocate as well before it's too late .. I'm trying to head down south to ATL before next summer.
Disgusting part is they're kicking people out in Atlanta and here in Houston too. I rode through Third Ward in H-Town the other day(working class black neighborhood with minimal violent crime) and the fukkers are literally kicking decent people out of their one story homes and putting up cookie cutter apartment/condos. Disgusting stuff. We truly are in the midst of reverse white flight, nationwide.

You just keep exposing yaself. Dude, u know nothing about NYC

That coke money in the 90's gave those Dominicans an edge like no other. If u dont know what happened to the movie theater on147th and Broadway in the 90's then u know nothing.

You playing guessing games about an area that is drug gang territory . Its too political for gentrification . Only way Dominicans are leaving the Heights is if coke becomes legal.

But i'll let u keep hanging yourself

You're right but that's always been the case with the Northside of Williamsberg , but the further down you went from Bedford the Grimer it got from what I recall from my last time going over there back in 03 . I know for a fact that hipsters weren't parlaying comfortably on Marcy Ave & Flushing Ave back then , maybe now but from what I remember seeing over there back then is a whole different realm from what I just witnessed earlier today .

Eh....what about Chinatown and communities like flushing and little neck?

Kind of makes your point moot. They actively discriminate against people that aren't Chinese living there...I know. I tried getting a place there for cheap and they refused to rent to me.

They preserve the backbone of their communities.

Black men should be doing the same. All this bytching in this thread is pathetic.

The act of gentrification, has been happening since people started living in cities.

Gentrification as we know it, is only is a problem when whites displace poor blacks and latinos.

But when blacks and latinos gentrify, we don't talk about it...we don't praise it.. we overlook it.
