Ironic ass thread. Down here in Mehico, I was just talking to an old timer taxi driver about this the other day. He told me James Brown was the first big black artist to come to Mexico, and the sh*t was insane. Supposedly the concert got bumrushed by twice the amount of attendees because everybody wanted to see him so bad. In general, that music comes from a different era in Mexico as well, more peaceful, more communal, more sociable, just a different society overall back then, probably the hey day of society in Mexico, as it was in most of Latin America and the Caribbean. Not tryin' to :cape:, but I guess when they hear this music they remember those times. And it's not just Mexico, PR, DR and Panama are on the same tip :manny:

Nice try

Why are you connecting Mexican, the Carribean, even Latin American countries? I know a lot about the Carribean and there's no such thing as what you're talking about.

Chichano, oldie, these words are Mexican idiosyncrasies and have nothing to do with the Carribean or countries like the DR, Panama. Black Carribean islands don't even have specific terms for African American music. My mom just says it's all black music to her. Nice try though. Yall need to start inventing your own shyt and stop stealing other people's

Reggaetown = Jamaician Reggae (black) + American hip hop (black) in spanish

Chicano oldies = 50s/60s African American soul and blues (black)

Maybe if a bunch of black folks started listening to that and this went on for generations and became a part of the culture, then it would make sense.

I'm sure there are plenty of black folks who listen to soul/motown, but even if there wasn't the music still black American's just like J-pop is still Japanese people's.

And again, oldies/soul/doo-wop/motown whatever you want to call it wasn't only made by black folks.

Nice try, cac. I'll say that soul/motown is African American music. Soul/motown was made by black folks or primarily black folks.. Lol @ this cac. nikkas made or inspired rock too, or so they say :smugdraper:. It's cac music now because cacs developed and honed it.

You actually didn't say any but the last part about rock music in your previous post, you silver tongued demon. Given you did not reply to my main points, I ssume you accept them. Nice try @ undermining black achievement anyway. The next time we meet will be in the deepest ring of hell :pacspit:

Your main point was completely irrelevant and you have no idea what you're talking about. I undermined NOTHING, stupid.

The only hell that exists is the one you create out of miserable ignorance :umad:

waiting for a response breh...

Sorry breh, I dont stay on here 24/7 and didnt get a chance to see your rant until this morning

also if I called this black oldies would you be fine with it??

THIS IS OFFICIALLY BLACK OLDIES BREHS!!!

i honestly dont care what you call it cause its not going to bother me :heh:

but why call it chicano oldies if its not made by chicanos we don't call old music by Hispanic artists black oldies??

See below for the answer

The term Chicano Oldies is not trying to say Chicanos created soul music, It's a term to describe the Chicano experience, especially in California. These songs are a part of the soundtrack to many Chicanos lives. You'll see Grandpas and kids as young as 5 listening to these songs and keep this music alive. A lot of black kids who are not from California are complete squares when it comes to this music and will only learn about it if some shytty rapper samples a song. It's like the term "West Coast Funk", a lot of those funk jams come from bands from Ohio, NY/NJ etc., but that sound is associated with California. It's like White Boys from England listening to Motown and calling it "Northern Soul".

It's not just Oldies. Growing up in Cali you would hear Funk, Hardcore Punk, Heavy Metal, Freestyle, Alternative, House etc.. In L.A. you will see dudes with Gang Tattoos on their face and they'll be bumping Morrissey songs, that doesn't mean their trying to be white boys from Manchester. Music is Music.

it dosent matter if other races joined in doo wop etc.. they didn't create it the music is BLACK culture I don't see anyone calling songs by the Beatles chicano oldies because they know cacs would eat them alive for it. CALLING IT CHICANO OLDIES IS IMPLYING ITS CHICANO MUSIC WHICH ITS NOT!!! be more original and quit trying to hijack our shyt!!! I know our music is awesome but have some respect for other peoples culture

:heh:

Are you just finding out about this?
