Its the Mexicans who are keeping those songs alive. Little kids listen to those songs. How many Black kids listen to oldies at all?

a lot of black kids seem to listen to mowtown from what I've seen

Ironic ass thread. Down here in Mehico, I was just talking to an old timer taxi driver about this the other day. He told me James Brown was the first big black artist to come to Mexico, and the sh*t was insane. Supposedly the concert got bumrushed by twice the amount of attendees because everybody wanted to see him so bad. In general, that music comes from a different era in Mexico as well, more peaceful, more communal, more sociable, just a different society overall back then, probably the hey day of society in Mexico, as it was in most of Latin America and the Caribbean. Not tryin' to :cape:, but I guess when they hear this music they remember those times. And it's not just Mexico, PR, DR and Panama are on the same tip :manny:

They have been referring to this music since the 80's and you never noticed?? I know more spanish kids that listen to this music then anything else, shiiiiit i grew up on this music, all my mom and dad listened to

Plus all those motown, old school artists still do concerts by the chicano shows they put on like Art Laboe and they get shown hella love. You act like they are being exploited and aint showed no love.

are y'all aware that our music.... our culture have crossed these small insignificant borders into other countries? jazz, hip hop, r&b, and rock and roll are loved in places like japan, s. korea, and russia. we created it and now it's global. y'all so stuck on labels but can't appreciate that our music and culture have transcended this country and has infiltrated the world.
