Mexicans didn't invent tats. There's no evidence behind that nonsense. Tyga is talking about how Mexicans in LA tattoo their whole bodies, but they weren't the first to do that either. So you have no point.

The term Chicano Oldies is not trying to say Chicanos created soul music, It's a term to describe the Chicano experience, especially in California. These songs are a part of the soundtrack to many Chicanos lives. You'll see Grandpas and kids as young as 5 listening to these songs and keep this music alive. A lot of black kids who are not from California are complete squares when it comes to this music and will only learn about it if some shytty rapper samples a song. It's like the term "West Coast Funk", a lot of those funk jams come from bands from Ohio, NY/NJ etc., but that sound is associated with California. It's like White Boys from England listening to Motown and calling it "Northern Soul".

It's not just Oldies. Growing up in Cali you would hear Funk, Hardcore Punk, Heavy Metal, Freestyle, Alternative, House etc.. In L.A. you will see dudes with Gang Tattoos on their face and they'll be bumping Morrissey songs, that doesn't mean their trying to be white boys from Manchester. Music is Music.

Cali nikkas know whats up. If it werent for ese's...I woulda never had the opportunity to grow up on a lot of those oldies...50s n 60s songs n shyt. They're the ones that keep those radio stations alive.

Theres also a difference between the art laboe oldies but goodies and the rest of black music. I dont know how to explain it, but its only certain songs you're likely to hear from chicanos. Like you'll hear a bunch of The Stylistics, The Chi Lites, Blue Magic....but not really a lot of Motown. I dunno, you gotta listen to it a bunch. But theres definitely specific black musicians that for whatever reason the mexicans really like.

Yeah,Brenton wood gets mad love from them n the delfonics too,I used to listen to the art labor show and it would be nothin but Chicano couples calling in to give shout out to their "lil puppets or "smiley" or what ever monikers they use for each other :pachaha:

Barbara Mason. Smokey Robinson. Mary Wells. The Temprees. They just have this sound that is just passed down from generation to generation. We fukk with Ralfi Pagan big time. Joe Bataan. And those are Rican cats. But they just have this sound. And it never goes out of style.

Older Dudes who were born in the 40's and 50's like to listen to the 50's/ early 60's Doo-Wop type Oldies. But the most popular to younger crowd born in the 60's to now is into the Philly, NY/NJ, and Chicago sound from the late 60's /70's like the Five Stairsteps, Delfonics, The Moments, and artists you posted. Motown gets love, Four Tops, Marvin and Tammi, Smokey. The Stax sound isn't really popular. Billy Stewart and Aaron Neville are popular Southern Singers though.

There are Dudes who are kind of snobish when it comes to Oldies. They listen to rare Oldies and kind of hate on the songs you hear every sunday night on the radio cuz they're "Played Out".
I'm a little like that to. If young kids would walk by my house and I'd catch them trying to listen to the songs I'm playing, I'd turn the volume down. Like "go listen to Angel Baby or I'm your Puppet kid". Or if I look up a Oldie on youtube and I read that such and such producer sampled the song, I get annoyed. Like when Alicia Keys and Jay-z made "New York", I was like "Love on a two way street is better, fukk these hacks". I can't front though, there are some Oldies that I found out about from Rap songs.:scheme:

There is no reason to call them Chicano oldies unless they are just saying these are the oldies that Chicanos like. Which is what I'm guessing they mean either way I'm in the south and every black person I know grew up listening to oldies by default because of our parents. So y'all who saying black kids don't listen to it. Why the fukk would we when we still making the best music everyday to listen to new shyt.
