Hidden Figures doesn't belong anywhere near Best Picture.

Hidden Figures is a popcorn flick released in the middle of January. There are other films deserved it more.

And popcorn flicks can't be done incredibly well and deserve recognition? Star Wars and Raiders of the Lost Ark both got best picture nods. And if those aren't the definition of popcorn flicks, apparently I need to call Webster

gotta be the least interesting list of nominees in my lifetime. Outside of La La Land, and I guess Hidden Figures (is that uplifting?) just endless misery. That's the most joyless list of nominees I've ever seen. Which of those best picture noms are absolute can't miss theater movies? I know that's not a big qualifier but if you wanted any of them at home, what are you missing out on? Maybe Arrival, La LA Land and Hacksaw Ridge?

I didn't want Deadpool nominated for anything, but now I'm kinda pissed they didn't throw it a bone just to add a little levity to the night. My God. All I care about is the animated category and the 1% chance Mel Gibson wins best director just to make people mad.

I guess overrated ass La La Land is sweeping for sure.

It may be the least mainstream list of all time but there's some great movies on there

Well that's the beauty of opinion and discussion. I thin it's an extremely well done flick, with a good message, great performances, well directed and well written. Now most of us know its probably not going to win but to say it's just a good oscar bait film feels a touch disrespectful towards it. Obviously thats your opinion though and I'm not going to change it or even try to. I just disagree. Let's not act like the movie is Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close though in terms of quality or deserving props

Meryl Streep really didn't need to be nominated for Florence Foster Jenkins. Aside from the movie being meh I found her performance to be one of the weakest of her career. Taraji should have gotten Meryl's nom.

Hidden Figures being left out of the Best Original Song category was a surprise too.

Shocked Amy Adams didn't get a nom for Arrival and Michael Keaton got snubbed for that McDonald's movie...that had Oscar nomination written all over it from the trailers and reviews.

Biggest shock of the whole thing is Finding Dory being snubbed for a Best Animated nomination.

And whats up with no one from Hell or High Water getting an acting nom?

So who has seen Lion and Elle? Anyone?

Yeah I missed Hidden Figures when I first read the Best Picture list.

I am not shocked because I thought Finding Dory was amazing, I am just shocked because Pixar movies are usually a lock for a nomination.
