CAP returned to 1945 ,, to right after his ship went down and he got frozen..
after original cap got frozen our cap went to peggy and had his dance... or maybe even before it went down .. actually before is better that way she still thinks he goes down and everything with her plays out correctly..
he lived and chilled somewhere and married someone whom he wont tell and waited and went to mountain because he knew they would be there..

Frozen cap was still discovered by shield and everything is still good...

for all we know he could be Black Widow's father

Not Black Widow because her pops is already a known MCU but that makes sense

I think all the time travel confusion comes from the ancient one, that exchange with Bruce is what messes up everything. Her saying that there is a single timeline unless the stones are removed is what creates all the holes.

Instead they should have established that every time you time travel you create alternate timelines period and there is no way to get rid of them or fix them. That would have deaded the whole idea of trying to put the stones back in the exact spot, which is crazy, and basically created a bunch of realities where Thanos can't snap.

Then you can attribute all the inconsistencies to alternate timelines

not really... they showed us what they want us to think... they didn't date the dance... they only showed a car which allowed us to date it..
plus he told sam he not telling..

and by the events of agent cater and winter soldier and her name "carter" she still thinks steve went down .. so he had to dance and dip cause when he dipped "he " got frozen

the ancient one was only worried about the timeline she was currently in... that's why she said you gotta return them at the exact moment you took them .. lets call the movies the main continuity... everything revolves around that

they have to do it this way with the "one true " timeline because technically every interaction creates a new timeline and they CANT return them to where they got them. ALA back to the future..

I feel like there was a slow move to it being actual start time with previews starting early. Dont think anybody pulled it with Endgame but I've definitely been 10 minutes late and missed 10 minutes of movie.
