ther's gonna be a lot of let down people in this thread come monday.. i mean it's straight disney status...
Ouch. That bad huh? :patrice:

U underestimate this forum though, the Stanley levels run deep and much praise will follow this weekend as some people cannot admit the film they been salivating over for a year now is just not very good.

And yes they should've pulled an empire strikes back ending with a villain victory, I'm sure they saving that for infinity wars, right? :mjpls:

I think Joss Whedon fell victim to the "company line" over at Marvel. He's been throwing a lot of subliminal(some blatant) shots at Marvel lately.

He even said he was forced by Kevin Feige to kill off agent Coulson in the first Avengers.

It was Whedon's idea to kill Coulson, and he wasn't a fan of him being revived since he feels like it now takes away from the moment in Avengers

Are you worried about perpetuating the "Joss Whedon kills your favorite character" stigma, with what you did to Agent Coulson in The Avengers?

Joss Whedon: In our first meeting Kevin Feige said, this is what we're gonna do and I said, "Oh but you have to go out there and tell everybody that it was your idea because this is going to get me so much ****. Because they are all going to be like, "Oh he did it again!" It was stipulated from the beginning, and I completely agree that it was the right thing to do, and so did Clark. Who said in the early days, when I was busy apologizing for it, "In a movie like this, with what's going on if there isn't some toll, it's just irresponsible story telling."

After seeing the movie I wonder what happen behind the scenes. From Whedon's interviews and seeing the first Avengers, something must of went down. I can't believe Whedon is as campy as this movie was. I've seen alot of his work and it almost feels like Marvel really took over this film. Maybe they knew he wasn't coming back so they didn't give him as much leeway as first one.

I feel it's somethin similar like behind the scenes with IM2. Also, Whedon's original cut was nearly 3hrs so there's a lot left off the chopping block and it's TOO obvious when you see the editing issues in this movie. I've heard that most of those edited out deleted scenes will be in the DVD though.

But I think Whedon and Feige bumped heads. I think Feige maybe bogarting too much influence into these films, because that's why the original director for Ant-Man left too.

Granted there's a few scenes that easter egged shyt like Black Panther and obviously The Infinity sequels, but why there was ZERO set up for the next immediate conflict which is CIVIL WAR??? Before the movie, I was expecting this would spark the conflict between Iron Man and Captain America, and it ended with them as CLOSER fucckin' buddies than they were before the film started! :mindblown:

Why would you drive them apart before the actual movie? That's literally act one of the story, it would be completely non-sensical to have that happen before the actual movie. What Whedon did here is emphasize that they have very different approaches and ideologies but normally rise above it to do their jobs. Civil War is the story where a single event makes their ideologies clash so bad that they can't work it out. It's way too big a deal to be a subplot in an already subplot-heavy Avengers movie.

Not sure if it's been mentioned yet, but for all of ya'll saying this or that is missing or whatever, I'm hearing that the blu ray will be an uncut version that will have about a 1/2 hour more of footage. Perhaps some of those other connections and loose ends will be covered within that, as that's quite a lot of addition screen time.

You mean we now have to buy the dvd/blu ray to see important footage we should've seen in the film we paid for? What's that saying about fool me once? I like this comic universe shyt but I ain't a fool. I will take my chances watching civil war having not known what the event was :francis:

I don't think the movie misses anything, it just moves incredibly fast because so much happens in the story. And I hate when they do this, shyt's the same as video games coming out with pre-announced DLC that you know is some shyt that should've been in the game but they cut to make an extra buck.

Thinking on it, this felt like a rushed epilogue to the first movie as opposed to full out sequel with impactful ramifications. Production and set-pieces were better but the energy and moments the first avengers movie had wasn't there and it really felt :yeshrug: instead of :ohlawd:. A lot like what Quantum of Solace was to Casino Royale unfortunately. Captain America: The Winter Soldier was the real sequel to The Avengers:mjpls:
