The dummies at the IMAX I went too gave us Real 3D glasses, and everybody had to make a mass exodus during the Antman preview to get the right ones......But Man this movie was beautiful :to:
Flawless CGI, and better story than the first one.
The middle part was slow, but the first and final thirds made up for it.

And them Zoe Saldana kills :damn:
Happened at our theater too!

And yes, wench put in work!

so they're not gonna explain the daughter / sigoirney weaver / having a seizure story line? Just....went in that direction and did not tie it up whatsoever??
probably in part 3 which was filmed with 2
seems like all the lingering plot points will be picked up in 3

The biggest complaint from critics is the simplicity of the plot.
In my opinion it's a lot of complex and dense things going on amongst the characters

I think what throws people off with the avatar movies is that they compare them to other Carmeron work like Terminator, Terminator 2 and Aliens which are arguable the most perfectly written and done sci fi movies of all time. You just not gonna get those types of movies like that anymore.

Modern Hollywood Execs and Presidents ain't trying to give you a story where once you leave the theatre you thinking about the story for the rest of the week or month or year. If folks think they getting some 2001 A Space Odyssey or Original Planet of the Apes block buster scifi movies with story lines that will sit with you for ages....that shyt ain't gonna happen anymore.

The third act really saved this movie, fantastic ending. People were crying in the audience. Cameron nailed the characters and world building. The last few action scenes were so good.

They would’ve made way more if China wasn’t on lockdown

True and also people think that in China you make a lot of money but the movies often don't. The Chinese are notorious for just bootlegging movies. When I use to work in China I noticed that most folks didn't go to the movies. They would say why go when the bootlegger has a copy that is as good as the theatre that you can get a day or the day the movie was released.

Plus bootlegging isn't illegal in China. When I worked in Shanghai and Suzhou they had movie bootlegg shops set up right next to the movie theatre.... :mjlol:

These execs just look at the number of people in China and say hey lets release a movie over there we are bound to make a 100 or 200 million just in china...:damn:.

When in reality the Chinese already got the bootlegg version on every corner out in the streets in 4K quality by the time the movie even is released at the theatres...:mjlol:. They even got Chinese streaming sites just for bootlegging movies where you pay a fee a month to get all the bootlegged movies before or the day they are released. :mjlol:

Just got out of seeing it, dope movie, can't remember how I felt about the first avatar but I didn't hate it. CGI and 3D was dope, the opening forest scene was crazy seeing shyt float around (the glasses themselves were terrible though and made the bridge of my nose hurt) it was LONG (not in a bad way) but the way it was structured it felt like binge watching a mini series. IDK how Cameron can stretch this out 4-6 movies

8.5/10 and Cameron did it again (that rhymed)

Marvel fans saying this flopped lol

That tweet is rather misleading as it did come in below projections especially with the US box office. You can blame COVID for China’s numbers but what about the US? The Marvel stan thing is corny btw as both movies are under the same company and one failure affects the other lol.

The first avatar didn’t do crazy opening weekend numbers, it was its longevity that made it crazy money, weekend after weekend with little drop.

That was 13 years ago though and the movie landscape is completely different now than it was then. We’ll see how much it drops in week 2 before making judgement. Don’t forget China is still dealing with COVID lockdowns again.
