The first movie is blah to trash to me, but the visuals were stunning. I can’t find it in me to care about a sequel to a mediocre story 13 years later, but I know it’s only worth watching the sequel if I see it in theaters. I feel like I’m being punked into going to the theater for this :birdman:

Sorry was better in this one with more to be invested in. Saying this as someone who thought the first one was low key trash cuz of all the walking cliches and the heavy white savior shyt. With this one at least i could forget this is a white dude essentially playing Indian.

Once Nicole Kidman finished her spiel and the movie cut on, my jaw was on the floor for bout 30 straight minutes. I truly couldn't believe what I was seeing and hearing and I had just seen the 4k remaster of the original movie 3 months ago. The high framerate visuals will simply not be seen again until Avatar 3. The crisp sound design and rattling from Dolby felt like pure majesty. Only maybe Nolan could put out a visually and technically stunning movie on the same level. Pure cinema viewing pleasure from start to finish.

However. At several later points in the movie my eyes rolled from cliche and oversimplified plot beats. The first hour of the movie long as shyt. This man Ma'Jake was a CHIEFTAIN, you telling me he decides to turn tail over a decade later just because he got some little bad ass kids? And he or 'Tiri didnt train none of them to fight? Total bullshyt brehs.. thicc ass fish girls aside, them boys should not have been worried about nothing.

And don't let me get started on Spider ol dumb ass. All he had was lame ass quips the whole movie like shut your nut ass up and do something, you aint even really got hands like that to be talking shyt:dahell:

And another thing, how tf can they just communicate with every living being with no questions asked. Got ol girl asking a whole ass whale how was her 3rd trimester. Its just shyt like this that had me like, man you know what let me just enjoy these visuals and gtfo when its over.

Just came back from the cinema, i caved in and went to the 8pm slot. Was about 35min late and still made sure to get my whiskey drink before i go in

The visuals were :ehh: to :whoo:

But why is there a bob marley ass looking human in there living with them people :dahell:

I must say the storyline left a lot to be desired...maybe its cause i was late and also watched the first one only once back in 2009.

Overall: 6.5 / 10

I would like to see them expand to a better villain moving forward, I wish they let dude go. Maybe even some inner conflict on Pandora between different tribes could be explored. All the water stuff was just great, although @Lootpack i did notice too how they kinda just disappeared at the end for a minute like you said. Solid stuff, probably better than anything the MCU has been pumping out. I hope they can push to some better villans/threats in the future and not just focus on that marine dude, although the switch to them being avatars was cool
The tribe straight up abandoned their daughter there too, lol. But on another note, I’m glad Jake got to fight his own fight. Stakes got raised after the son’s death, things have been personal with Quaritch…it was time to finish what he started. :wow: Cameron really went all out on that final sequence, sheesh. Top Gun: Maverick’s is probably the only one that rivals it for me. Felt like I was on a visual high the entire time.

Jake is dying in the next one, surely? Third film could turn out to be way better story-wise if they can flesh out the plot points that were teased in this one. Kiri and Lo’ak look like they will be owning things from here on out.

I’m amazed that it took until the last act for something bad to happen to one of the kids considering how often they kept putting themselves in danger. Lo’ak had the whole crew by his side every time Jake asked who was with him. That’s my nikka though. :dead:

Killed me at one point when the family was on the edge of drowning in the ship and Kiri was out there with the googly-eyes playing with the little fishes. :gladbron: :mjlol:
