Watching now I can say they have nerfed Sokkas personality a ton so far:mjcry:The kids in general are missing that bubbly silly personality the crew had with Katara being more of the mother of them. The banter needs to be there the chemistry was immaculate in the show:wow:Didn't expect fhe first episode fo start like that though that was dope:ohhh:They should've used more of the original music this soundtrack is weak so far. Avatar has one of the most fire scorees I've ever heard:wow::wow::blessed:

Yeah, the chemistry and a certain level of bubbly charm isn't there. Maybe it'll change when the Greatest Earthbender in the Universe arrives, but those are huge.

It's because they split the gang up in the most to their adventures

Ok yea they're speed running and cutting out a lot of their mini adventures. Those adventures are what helped them build the bond though :francis:What's the point in making a series if you're cutting scenes out anyway?
You're chasing dragons breh. You deserve to feel like this if you expected any more than whatever you got:manny:

I watched the trailer but knew I couldn't watch this shyt because I like the show so much this feels disrespectful

There's a general lack of respect for what animation brings to art and storytelling, and ATLA's identity is married to the personality that shines through the cartoon. From the little footage I've seen it looks like all the soul is stripped away :francis:

I'm not completely against the idea of live action adaptations of cartoons, but I know what's being sacrificed for the sake of nikkas that feel like live action is the most mature and righteous representation of art :francis:

It's watchable and okay, but you're absolutely right. A major part of Avatar's identity is a product of the beauty that is the animation. And it shines there.

A lot of the scenes are shot-for-shot, line for line, but the soul is missing...or lost in translation. It actually feels like some of those Disney live-action remakes, but not as hollow

Mashing stuff together for live action will always present problems. Like someone said the original was lightning in a bottle. Perfect pacing, space for character development, every episode has a purpose and isn't just there for filler...well, except The Great Divide. This would have been better if it wasn't retreading what's already been done.

The Mary-Sue-ing ain't helping either.:unimpressed:

I think the bolded is why I think we the audience share as much blame as the companies pumping out this shyt

Not saying everything has to be a masterpiece but everybody has fallen so deep into "its watchable and okay" that we've enabled the trash and heartless shyt

"It's watchable" is perfect for Netflix because they don't care if you love or hate anything they only care that you "watch". So if you get bored and end up on your phone for 60% of an episode or go finish chores while the show plays in the background their quota is filled as long as the show keeps playing:manny:

So they make product with enough excitable moments to make you look up from your phone when the music changes or someone raises their voice :francis:

Hate to be in this thread negatively but everyone upset with the show deserves what they get for even watching it in the first place:manny:

Believe the writer of the show did an interview confirming they would be cutting out a lot of the side quests

As far as the show I’m only a couple episodes in but I like it for what it is. It was never realistic to expect it to match the OG

Sokka actor feels like a miscast though

Halfway through and some of the dialogue is just so heavy handed to get certain points across. It really is just an okay adaption but at this point, my expectations aren't as high as they used to be.

I do like the Iroh and Zuko pairing, it was always one of my favourite things about the show. Maybe I'm misremembering but did Iroh and Ozai ever interreact in the OG cartoon?
