This was amazing.

I'm 28 and I've been getting much more socially conscious and learning so much more about the black struggle.

This documentary hurt my heart.

Kalief, Trayvon and all the police shooting victims, the laws....ugh. Makes me sad as fukk.

5 stars. And while I know people aren't fans of hillary, at least she's open to hearing from the black community and trying to right her wrongs. Or at least vocalizing it.
Hilary is not open. Don't believe the lie.
Her and her husband got political steam by demonizing black men as super criminals, they pushed for the sentencing laws that have been unfairly used against black americans. They pushed for hate crime laws, that were turned against black americans.

Don't ever fall for the game of thinking any of the major political party goons like the Clintons, Bushes care about black people. They don't.

The Clintons had political steam long, long before that super predator comment. And for the record, she wasn't the first person in congress/politics to use that term.
Watch the documentary. While Bill clearly continued the problem with his crime bill...it's exhausting that people act like mass incarceration was under control until the Clintons showed up.

This isn't to say they aren't without criticism. They 100% are.
All I'm saying is...there's plenty of blame to spread around, and it definitely doesn't start with them.

Never said it was under control until the clintons, but they didn't help when they could have. A lot of the mass incarceration started in the 70s and continually escalated through their to the 80s under the guise of the War on Drugs, but thats another discusion.

That said back to the Clintons, there is plenty to go around and they are included in the blame and I will never take them off the hook for what they did because other pieces of shyt were doing it as well.

Watching it now...

It's good, but a little misleading.

I like the historical context and narrative in how they described how the 13th amendment didn't apply to blacks post slavery...
but I think it's disingenuous to compare incarceration during reconstruction to incarceration in the 1970s to date. I personally don't see the similarities and/or parallels as being as closely linked as they are trying to.

So are you gonna tell us why you feel that way or nah? :dahell:

break it down breh

Not gon' lie brehs, I broke down crying during the Trayvon part. I had to pull myself together to get through the rest of the doc. As black people we have so many forces against us. smh
I cried during the Kalief Browder part. The whole movie had me welling up though. A lot of information I was already aware of but seeing the facts laid out in front of me was too much at certain parts of the movie.

I would suggest to any of you interested in the discussion of criminality of blacks in the US, please read the book Slavery by another name by Blackmon
I have it in pdf if you can't buy it, but give the book a read to get a more indepth and better understanding of reconstruction post slavery policing, I don't think the movie really went into the true depravity of that system.
It literally was slavery.
