I got an offer from a tech company called Trusource located in South Austin. Very close to the airport. I'm debating about taking them over Home Depot simply because the pay is more, health insurance is attractive & they are very much on the networking side of IT which is what I've been in school studying for:patrice: anyways, Austin is too expensive for me so I was thinking of looking at places outside Austin. Something less than an hour away from both Trusource and Home Depot.

I settled on San Marcos. It's 35 mins from Trusource and 45 from Home Depot. Any insight about San Marcos?

Definitely lower cost of living in San Marcos but it's the boonies.

It's a small college town. It's aite... Depends on your lifestyle tbh

I understand I live near all the wealthy people, but do yall see Teslas like everyday?

I see Teslas out here like they are Civics. Before I moved here I had never even seen a Tesla in person :dead:

I got picked up by a Tesla Model X once by a Fasten

But yeah I see Teslas quite often

Oh lol.

I've met a few black women. I know this one biracial girl that I used to work with and we were always cordial to one another. But she is friends with this one PAWG I went to have drinks with ONCE and probably hates me now given our last interaction post election lol so I dunno how me running into the biracial girl will turn out.

In the Silver Lining
Hotel in Town Lake, walked across the bridge over to Rainey as suggested by @AdvantageSouthpaw . Nice lil trail by the river. Pulled up on some food trucks, had some samosas and a fajita. :eat:. Seen a bad Indian broad in some booty short...that thang was looking right..:ohlawd:...she was booed up.

I can see the appeal a lil bit of Austin..but black folks are sparse as fuuck...:damn:.

That's why we need more of US here man. I like it but I mean I came to Texas years ago for my career and moved to Austin a few months ago for the tech scene so I did what I had to do and have to make it somehow.

But glad you enjoyed it.

Eyewitness to deadly 6th Street shooting never saw Nobles fire at police

Eyewitness to deadly 6th Street shooting never saw Nobles fire at police

AUSTIN (KXAN) — A man who was working overnight security at the Pecan Street Festival says he saw the entire officer-involved shooting play out early Sunday morning.

Eyewitness Elvis Ingram tells KXAN, “As he was running on Trinity an officer picked up a bicycle and threw it at his face and he tripped and fell over the bike. When he fell right by my golf cart a pop went off and he jumped up immediately and he ran past me,” Ingram continued.

Ingram believes the pop came from a gun on Nobles, but he never saw a weapon in his hand or pointed toward officers before officers started shooting.

“[Police] fired four rounds into [Nobles’] back. He was about 25 feet from me when he died,” Ingram continued.

Police took Ingram to APD headquarters for an interview, and a couple of days later Ingram contacted KXAN to share his story.

Frankie Nobles, Landon’s cousin, told KXAN a similar story.
“The fact that the police are trying to say that he turned around and started shooting at them that never happened,” said Nobles. “I saw everything as it occurred.”

The two officers who fired at Nobles were not wearing body cameras. Thursday, APD responded to questions about the eyewitness account with the following statement:

The shooting that occurred early Sunday is still being investigated both criminally and administratively. The Austin Police Department has spoken to witnesses that have come forward, including [Ingram]. We will not release any additional information at this time so as not to jeopardize these ongoing investigations.”

Shortly after the shooting Sunday morning, Austin Police Chief Brian Manley said, “Based on our preliminary investigation and on the reports that we’ve been given the suspect did turn and fire towards our officers.”

The Austin Police Association president Ken Casaday tells KXAN he was there that morning, and is “extremely confident in everything officers said and did.”

“Eyewitnesses are some of the most inaccurate accounts,” said Casaday. “Exercises show how inaccurate they can be.”

Austin police continue to ask anyone who witnessed this incident or has video of it to contact APD through Crime Stoppers at 512-472-TIPS or text “Tip 103” + your message to CRIMES or use the new Crime Stoppers App. You can also submit tips by downloading APD’s mobile app, Austin PD, for free on iPhone and Android.

Been in Austin since Tuesday. Annnnnddd I'm getting depressed af looking at these apartments & such. Was told if I don't have at least 1k to spare for rent, its not a good idea to live in Austin.

Hyde Park is the best to live in central Austin imo, White folks taken over the east side, so thats a bust anyway ....many houses and privately owned apt complexes with smaller management over in the Hyde Park area, so you can find cheaper rent if you look. There are literally hundreds of these 10 to 15 unit apts over here in this area. I pay 800 for a 1 br and i'm still close to everything, could ride a bike downtown in 5 mins, i can go to the east side easily from dean keaton and 2 mins away from Mount Bonnell...:wow: life is good over here. I have not had a job in 3 years, i put my apt on air bnb a few times a month to pay my rent and use the money from my business to travel n shyt.

Went to see a realtor and told him about Hyde Park. Nothing come up. Craigslist ain't showing nothing either. Do I have to drive around that area to see something?

Native Austin night here. Move to the south side breh, better affordability and you get more for your money. Also you don't want to live close to where you'll be working :huhldup:assuming you'll be working in the data center Home Depot has here

I declined Home Depot offer, went with another tech company. Offered more pay & better benefits. They are located near the airport which is the South right?

I found this apartment in San Marcos for $775. They pay internet/cable while I pay rent, electric & water. I front $90 upfront (half off deposit & application fee & waived admin fee) then $775 when moving in.

Only problem is the unit will be available August 1.
And they are an hour from work.
But I feel like this is a easy steal :yeshrug: best I've heard since apartment hunting.
Looking into doing an extended stay at a hotel till then .
