What I really mean i vulgarity over a hip hop sounding beat. And personally, I think alot of artists are doing this now. Beyonce, Ty Dolla, Trey Songz, August Alsina, The Weeknd, The Dream, Chris Brown..and whole bunch of ppl.
there almost isnt

Really? Cuz i think its the opposite. I think Rnb is overrun with too much vulgarity over hip hop sounds. With all the artists i mentioned above, right now personally, it just sounds like too many singers are trying to have that hip hop sound. And i don't want my Rnb sounding like Hip Hop.

Thats why when you have artists like Pharrell, John Legend, and JT make ACTUAL rnb records...that shyt pops.

I'm not saying its terrible music or anything...just don't expect these nikkas to ever go gold or win a grammy. IMO that sound is the main reason RnB awards don't get presented anymore on these award shows:manny:

and they don't hear you. i'm sorry, but this generation of singers are already marignally talented vocally, then they make the raunchiest music or try too hard to incorporate that street shyt, it's lame. in the 90's you had that "Jeep" sound r&b (jodeci, r kelly, xscape, MJB, even lil nikkas like immature) that still took a bit from hip hop, but also kept it soul. and miss me with the "they have too many people makin love songs", when was the last time a r&b singer had a true love song on the urban/top 40 radio? maybe the adult contemporary/adult urban, but power 106 isn't playing anything soulful. you go women calling dudes bytch ass nikkas, men singing about hoes, and stuntin or taking drugs and shootouts with the homies, there almost isn't a song without a rapper on it. i'm sorry, but r&b is much worse than hip hop right now. people tak about find the good hip hop, soulful, positive, traditional r&b has been so isolated from the mainstream, you almost have to dig on itunes or sportify to even know cats dropped something new, then they isolated it more with any r&b artist not doing this ranuchy shyt by slapping the "neo soul" label on them....jesus, i'm through.

Preach, man. It is a sad time. Crazy thing is these 90s babies manage to know and vibe to all the classics we love. May not be their everyday music but they are fully aware of SWV, Michael Jackson (a given), New Edition, any singles Babyface or Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis produced, etc. What has happened, this is theory, that current singers grew up on "hip-hop" and feel they must incorporate hip-hop elements into their music to feel 'down' or whatever. The singers we know and love didn't grow up on hip-hop but with it. Growing up on hip-hop strips singers of important elements like musicianship, music theory to an extent, and showmanship. Outside of Beyonce & Bruno Mars, a current singer (won't discredit R&B any further) doesn't incorporate a show and just stand up with a mic like rappers and do what they do. Occasionally, they'll have back up dancers but for the most part a backing band if they can afford one and they just "sing". Chris Brown can put on a show but his current music isn't up to par. He's going through some things.

I know the internet hates Christianity but removing R&B from it's church/gospel roots has killed it. Singing gospel/church songs requires a powerful voice and powerful voices make the best music. MAYBE studio magic could work that out but the content of today's so called R&B is laughable. Thug ballads? :dahell: Bad performers plus bad content equals the cesspool of shyt on the radio.

Breh, you don't get to be beyonce, Justin timberlake, micheal Jackson, Mariah, Madonna, usher by only appealing to 13-24 year old hood rats. So while people are "showing their age", I think it speaks more that a dude with a song that was played ad nauseum is, one, nameless to many, and two, indiscernible from the two established cats he had outshining him on his own track.
