Van made it weird.
Earn has exceeded everyone’s expectations. Dude used to sleep in a fukkin storage unit so you know everyone in his life didn’t think he would amount to much. Man overcame the bullshyt at college, apparently being abused, being broke and baby mama drama.
Van lost her mind last season and whatever leverage she had over Earn is gone for good. And now the whole crew eats off of his ideas. Alfred included.

but yea van is a fukking psycho after last season, even before that they showed a million indications. earn by all means has been nothing but a man who learns from his mistakes that has come up.
Breh, Earn is the battery behind the Paper Boi movement. Alfred kinda had a his own buzz but someone had to be the ringmaster of all of it. And now Alfred depends on him for everything. Breh literally is helping him log into his email.
Alfred is at a point where he can sign with a bigger label/manager because of the work Earn put in across the board. If hasn’t be pretty the entire time but Paper Boi’s trajectory has always increased every season.
No one can doubt Earn anymore even tho he’s starting to deal with little health/mental issues.

Haven't read through the thread yet, but anybody hating on these first couple episodes will never be satisfied. Two masterpieces. This is what made me fall in love with the show.

Its Atlanta. I’ve said this before in another thread but if you have two arms and two legs, both eyes, and a voice box, and you can’t get laid in ATLANTA then YOU are the problem.

also there was the weird ass episode with the stolen cell phone last season... if anything from last season carries over into this season it seems like it would be that plotline... i wonder

I really think people are looking at Earn’s “scheming” in the quote unquote “wrong way”. Episode 2 spelled out that Earn’s scheming is a direct byproduct of suffering both childhood abuse and emotional betrayal by people he thought he could trust. It doesn’t make him this evil, diabolical mastermind, it makes him prone to proving CERTAIN people wrong and being emotionally closed off to others. Which is something he’s actively working on.
Earn isn’t going to EVER intentionally screw over Alfred. The series showed the depths of their bond back in season 2’s FUBU when Alfred saved Earn from being roasted and humiliated due to wearing a fake shirt. The series also heavily implies that Alfred looking out for Earn was a regular occurrence throughout their lives. Earn being Alfred’s manager is a ways of paying Alfred back for those years of protection and “proving” that it all wasn’t just one-sided, as much as it was a come up attempt. The one constant this show has always hammered home is that these two can always count on one another.

I could be tripping but it sounded like Earn didn't even recognize the white chick at the airport, at least from the story he told the therapist. Is that supposed to be a joke about white folks aging quickly? If so
