This move further makes me believe a trade for Pascal will be coming soon for the Hawks

Brought in a vet backup pg in Patty Mills and now a vet backup wing in Matthews. This makes me think Dre + one of the young players might be on the move soon.

I think the deal has already beenb agreed on they just cant announce til Aug 1 when the rookie deals can be traded...i think Bufkin is one of the guys going out

After a disappointing 2022-2023 season finishing 41-41 and as the 7th seed, the Atlanta Hawks look to bounce back and make the playoffs outright instead of fighting for a play in spot. The team will be entering the season with Quinn Snyder as the head coach, as he replaced Nate McMillian midway during the previous season. With a full offseason to implement his system, the team will look vastly different. John Collins was finally traded to the Utah Jazz after years of trade speculation, ending his run in Atlanta that included an Eastern Conference Final run. Snyder will look to one of the team's young bigs to replace him, namely Jalen Johnson, Onyeka Okongwu and Saddiq Bey. New guys on the roster include rookies Kobe Bufkin and Mouhamed Gueye as well as TyTy Washington and Usman Garuba from the Houston Rockets. They will join a young but veteran filled roster.
