So Trae doesn't play winning basketball but Luka does when we were in the playoffs and they literally quit at the end of the season and missed them?

I'm honestly not even a Trae fan like that but he's easily the most disrespected player in the league

His play has not led to wins. It’s just an honest assessment. Folks are actually down on Luka for the same reason. We see the stats but it’s not bringing your team wins specifically in the post season. Both players could point to reasons why that is outside of their play on the court but the fact still stands.

Trae is a talented player no doubt and maybe it’s not fair to expect him to carry the Hawks in the playoffs but that’s what may be needed to get the Hawks the success we want to see.

Of course the ATL
So your gripe is he isn't popular amongst his peers? Popularity don't win you championships.

DJ, one of his peers, took a pay cut to stay here with him. :yeshrug:

You sound like dukes and bell

It’s not just his peers breh, it’s coaches, media & fans who vote for All Stars who don’t view Trae as an elite player. shyt USA Basketball hasn’t invited Trae to participate either. He has to elevate his game for us to win, it doesn’t mean he has to perfect but he has to grow up, refine his game and be better

Breh you talking about straight up hate.

Coaches hate him because he's hell to gameplan against and draws fouls as much as anybody in the league

Media hates him because they got a narrative they've been feeding since the moment he got traded for the white boy

Fans hate him because they listen to the media

And fukk Team USA. Brunson gets gassed because he played with the aforementioned white boy then went to NYC, and Haliburton is the fukkin truth but his play hasn't contributed to winning AT ALL. Regardless of position, you really feel like Josh Hart, Bobby Portis, and Austin fukkin Reeves are better players? Hell no.

Trae has to get better, yes, but so do Luka, SGA, Tatum, Brown, Embiid, Jimmy Butler, Devin Booker, Donovan Mitchell, and every other media darling star player in the league who wants a ring and ain't got one. The "Trae gotta grow up" narrative is played out.

All Trae needs to *change* is being more confident in his 3 ball and letting Murray and JJ cook in transition. Everything else is just a matter of growth and development, which is something he should finally able to have with Coach Snyder and this roster around him.

Breh you can make up whatever narratives you want for why Trae doesn’t get those accolades from coaches, players, fans & media. The reality is that outside of Atlanta he is not currently viewed as an elite player by his peers, media or coaches in the league. He has the ability to change his league wide perception but you & other Hawks fans have to be willing to hold him accountable to see him improve, but judging from the comments in this thread, it’s everyone’s fault but Trae’s that explains he’s a great scorer/passer that can’t consistently make AS teams or make All NBA teams.

And as far as growing up, it’s still absolutely valid. The not showing up to game/practice situation last season with Coach Nate, the unnecessary back and forth with members of the local media in person/social media, those are areas he can grow and mature in.

As far as on the court, he needs to cut down on turnovers, improve defensively, improve his decision making, become a better shot maker, play better off ball. These are areas where he has room for growth. It’s great he seems to be buying into Coach Snyder, he seemed bought in with Coach Nate too, so we’ll see how that plays out when training camp starts

This move further makes me believe a trade for Pascal will be coming soon for the Hawks :jbhmm:

Brought in a vet backup pg in Patty Mills and now a vet backup wing in Matthews. This makes me think Dre + one of the young players might be on the move soon.
