They are there mainly to celebrate the persons life... not mainly to morn the death. That's the reason there is food and a lil party set up afterward...the better question is, why arent funerals full of christians laughing and celebrating
i mean of course the answer is deep down you know that your relative is dead, gone, and in the ground forever.
but lets enteratin your bullshyt: shouldnt you be HAPPY that your relative is going to a magical paradise kingdom in the sky? selfish motherfukkers
excellent point. as far as the underlined, plenty of bibles, qurans and other fables out there would certainly disagree with youbut u know that we can't really explain where the actual life force comes from...or how random matter produces consciousness - So it seems weird to be absolutely certain that life completely stops w a physical death.
well you know....excellent point. as far as the underlined, plenty of bibles, qurans and other fables out there would certainly disagree with you
my problem is with people who claim that ancient books are infallible and have all the answers. i agree with everything u just sed thowell you know....
one can assume that nikkas in ancient times may have been a lil clueless about a few things....
Think of the Torah like the constitution.. It's a living document. more of a life guide... not something that will help u pass the last year of med school.
my boy is in graduate school right now for some medical shyt at wayne... when ur muslim workin in some of these areas taking classes n shyt... Let's just say u struggle initially then justify to make the grades.. try getting certain degrees by questioning macro evolution.
We all know that ancient books nor academic science has all the answers.
Are they necessary according to atheistic views of life and death? Is a wake more appropriate (gathering of friends and family) than the ceremonial aspect of laying a person to rest (prayers, decorating the body)? What is the preferred method? Cremation? Burial? Donation to science?
That's sounds like RELIGION to me...Do you have any SCIENTIFIC evidence to support those assertions...?They are absolutely necessary
it is really hard to explain
but I will try
it is a gesture
of humanistic respect
of existential empathy and sympathy
it is the artful way of living in the great eternal mystery that is life
Sounds like RELIGION to me...I see a funeral as way of honoring the departed final wishes and showing your status and or love for them by how close you follow it. For me when I die my wishes are to be cremated and then my friends and family have a party in my honor. I guess something close to a Irish wake.
which assertion? I made severalThat's sounds like RELIGION to me...Do you have any SCIENTIFIC evidence to support those assertions...?
The ones that I quoted in when I replied to your statements...which assertion? I made several

Every human being has a religion...That's what separates us from other animals...
I work as a physiotherapist in a hospitals and long term care facilities...I have seen staunch atheist still "fighting" even with terminal prognosis...And I ask myself, if you honestly believed you were just another animal no different than a fly, then why would you "fight"....?
If your family/friend is sick, and a doctor tells you there is a treatment that is effective only 25% of the time...You will accept that treatment because you have "faith" that your family/friend will be one of the 25% of the time that treatment works...
Every human being has a religion...
And yes, people want to survive; even atheists.
