In fact, you have to place Andre way up there also. He was a massive star in his day and sold out buildings in any territory he worked in. He also had a lot of crossover appeal. Seriously if you adjust for inflation.. guys like Bruno, Andre, Morales and Backlund were responsible for huge amounts of profit.

Ukraine
Hogan - obviously
Flair - dirtiest player in the game
Sting - biggest star who never been in wwe
Bret - greatest storyline ever
Rock (because of movies, not wrestling)
Austin|Cena - attitude era symbol & modern era symbol
Lesnar - he's one of my fave wrestlers, but i've put him on the list because of UFC
Styles\Jarrett - one found tna, other build it. promotion celebrated its 11 anyversary while people didnt give it even 6 month, you must give them a credit
Konnan - AAA stuff, he's a wise man, mexican Vince and Hogan combined basicly

this is my top of most important wrestlers in the biz, i watch japanese wrestling really rarely, so i dont know much about them, except of Bushido

close names to the list are also Taker (but streak isn.t enough) and J.Hardy (extreme, wwe, tna, wwe, drugs, epic match against sting at victory road, tna and huge popularity all over the world)
also i think austin aries got a chance to became on og the gretest someday

Side note, does anyone place Cena over Sting? If so, what's the argument for it?

Yea sting one of my favorites BUT Cena carrying the WWE on his back and headlining WM after WM after WM, the make a wish grind, 13 time champ :ld:

Can't be an all time great when the 2nd guy in the company is more talented on the mic, in the ring, and is loved way more by than the fans.

When has that ever happened? And don't say Austin/Rock, because they were interchangeably legitimate #1 guys, but CM Punk is obviously the #2 guy in the business to Cena in the eyes of the company.

Is it really that unbelievable? I remember when I was on of the few on here who respect Cena like that, now it's gospel he's top 10 :leon:

Anyway, no order.

Hogan
Austin
Rock
Flair
Savage
Taker
Inoki
Bret
Misawa
Harley Race
Andre
HBK
Sting
Piper
Dusty

Then you got guys like Steamboat, Terry Funk, Stan Hansen, Backlund, Jushin Liger and such who are just as impactful.

The difference with Cena maybe being Top 10 is his top status for years. But they don't really put him in a position to fail. They don't try to make him the top draw on big shows they sign bigger draws for that. He has no impact on TV or pop culture as much as people in the past. But he does well on House show and merch sales.

I like Cena as much as anyone. He's improved in ring and he's got respect from all his peers as the guy. But I don't think his place is as solid as the 15 I mentioned unless Vince tells you it's that way.

Cant really compare Japanese workers to American workers. Its apples and oranges. There is too great a difference in the audience, schedule, style, etc.

Sting? Sting was a slightly better worker, but Cena blows him away in pretty much every other category.

Piper? Cena is better in every way.

Dusty? Cena is better in every way.

And what kind of impact did guys like Harley race and HBK have on TV and pop culture?

Cena is top 10 for sure. Quite easily.

If thats the case then why isnt the number 2 guy the number 1 guy?:leostare:

:manny: ask Vince

Who the number 1 guy is to the fans is clear. The top 3 guys to the fans are actually very clear. Orton, Punk, Bryan.

:hovlol:Pardon me i had to laugh at that.

Cena gets the biggest pops & move the most merchandise. The IWC =/= The WWE Universe

Are you trolling? I can't remember the last time John Cena has gotten the loudest cheers on a RAW or PPV. It's always usually Punk or Daniel Bryan.

Can't compare wrestlers :what: It's all scripted fighting. Japan, Mexico, USA whatever.

Inoki is one of the most important figures in combat sports period and Misawa is arguably the best worker in the history of the biz. Cena was basically Sting in 90s who was only second to Hogan in popularity. And we all know that Crow Sting is bigger than anything Cena has ever done.

Piper was one of the leads of the Rock & Wrestling Era and Dusty was basically one the faces of the NWA like Cena is for the E. Race was one of the biggest wrestling icons of the 70s and Shawn damn near inspired a whole generation of wrestlers plus the style of matches the E uses today.

Like I said, Cena deserves his place amongst the greats but he's not top 10 yet. Hogan, Austin, Rock, Flair, Bruno, Savage, Taker, Andre, Bret, Inoki. Those names are hard to argue for Cena. So even if you think he's there it ain't easy.
